List of 10 best-selling cars in Vietnam in March 2024 (unit: cars)
In the past March, Mitsubishi Xpander has regained its form and become the best-selling model in the market, replacing Ford Ranger. Specifically, in March 2024, Vietnamese people purchased 1,582 Mitsubishi Xpander cars, a significant increase of 146.8% compared to the previous month. In addition to the overall growth of the market, this MPV model has returned to the “throne” thanks to the 50% discount on registration fees and gifts from Mitsubishi.
The rise of Mitsubishi Xpander has pushed Ford Ranger down to the second position in the overall market. With sales reaching 1,539 units, the American pickup truck has grown by 74.8%. At the same time, Ford Ranger has maintained its leading position in the pickup truck segment in Vietnam, leaving far behind its competitors.
In third place in the overall market is a name that appeared in the top 10 for the first time, Mitsubishi Xforce. March 2024 was also the first delivery month for this B-SUV model. In its first month of sale, Mitsubishi Xforce achieved sales of 1,334 units. If it maintains this momentum, Xforce could become the next mainstay of the Mitsubishi brand in the Vietnamese market, alongside Xpander. This result was partly due to the special pricing policy for customers who ordered Xforce, ranging from only VND 599 million to VND 680 million.
Right behind Mitsubishi Xforce is Honda City with sales of 1,043 units, a growth of 62.9%. With this result, Honda City once again becomes the best-selling B-segment sedan in Vietnam, surpassing Hyundai Accent and Toyota Vios.
The next two positions in the top 10 best-selling cars in Vietnam in March 2024 are both representatives of the B-segment sedan segment. Hyundai Accent ranks fifth, while Toyota Vios ranks sixth. The sales of these two models were 967 units and 934 units, respectively. While Hyundai Accent grew by 164.9%, Toyota Vios’s growth reached 449.4%. This is perhaps one of the car models with the highest sales growth in the past month. Toyota Vios achieved this result due to the price adjustment made by the company in March 2024, down to VND 458 – 545 million from the previous VND 479 – 592 million.
Ranked 7th in the top 10 is Mazda CX-5. Compared to previous months, this C-SUV model has dropped significantly. CX-5 sales in March 2024 reached 912 units, up 52%, and stood at the top position in the C-SUV segment. In April 2024, Mazda CX-5 is currently being offered with discounts ranging from VND 10 million to VND 20 million, bringing the price down to VND 749 – 979 million, posing a further threat to its competitors in the same segment.
The car model ranked eighth in terms of sales in the overall market is Ford Everest. With sales of 899 units, this mid-size SUV has grown by 156.1%. In April 2024, Ford Everest has added a new top-of-the-line version called Platinum with a more luxurious design and features, and a price of up to VND 1.545 billion. The variety of versions promises to help this American model continue to be the number one choice in the mid-size SUV segment in Vietnam.
In ninth place is Honda HR-V, thanks to sales of 759 units, an increase of 169.1%. This result helped the Honda model to rank second in the B-SUV segment, behind only Mitsubishi Xforce, and to continue to outsell its two rivals, Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos, despite its higher price.
The car model that “closed the book” in the top 10 is Kia Sonet. This A-SUV has grown by 75.4% to 751 units. Compared to February 2024, Kia Sonet dropped five positions, from fifth to tenth. However, it is still the best-selling A-SUV in Vietnam.
