The Ferrari California is a hardtop convertible with a 2+2 design, allowing a family of four to travel together, unlike the two-seater configuration of other Prancing Horse models. When it first debuted in 2008, the California featured a naturally aspirated, 4.3-liter, V8 front-mid-mounted engine driving the rear wheels.
A slightly more powerful, lightweight variant, the California 30, was introduced in 2012. In 2014, Ferrari unveiled the second generation of the model, dubbed the California T, which received a new twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine. The car revived the moniker used on the late 1950s Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder and the 1960s 365 California.
Initially introduced as an entry-level model, the California nevertheless incorporated a number of new design innovations from Ferrari. The California’s initial base price was similar to that of the F430, the marque’s top V8 supercar at the time of its launch. In 2018, the California was succeeded by the Portofino.
According to information we have obtained, there are two Ferrari California T supercars in Vietnam that were imported into the country from 2015. Over the past 9 years, they have passed through several owners. Currently, one car is frequently seen on the streets of Saigon. This prancing horse has only recently returned to the hands of a collector of early supercars in Vietnam within the past month.
This Ferrari California T supercar is navy blue and comes with silver-painted five double-spoke rims and striking red brake calipers. The car’s interior is upholstered in tan leather, which is still in good condition despite having resided in the hot climate of Vietnam for over 9 years.
The Ferrari California T is an updated design of the California featuring revised bodywork and sheet metal; a new interior, revised chassis and a new turbocharged powertrain. It debuted in 2014 for the 2015 model year. The T in its moniker stands for Turbo, a technology last used by Ferrari in a road car on the F40.
The car utilizes a new 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine generating 553 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 557 lb-ft of torque, a revised seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with different gear ratios, a modified MagneRide adaptive suspension system, as well as a new F1 Trac system. The Ferrari California T can accelerate from 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) in 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 196 mph (315 km/h).
In terms of styling cues, the Ferrari California T received a new F12-inspired front fascia, revised rear section and a revised interior. The revised rear end replaced the two vertically stacked exhaust outlets with four tailpipes arranged in a horizontal row. Another upgrade to the car was a reduction in emissions by 15 percent compared to its naturally aspirated predecessor. The car also uses smaller turbochargers and a variable boost management system to minimize turbo lag.
This is also the first Ferrari road car to debut the new Apple CarPlay functionality into its integrated infotainment system.
