China’s EV brand Zeekr has unveiled the 009 Grand, a lavish, upscale minivan that boasts a passenger compartment that might even put your living room to shame. It has even earned the moniker ‘Rolls-Royce of minivans’ in China.
The exterior of the Zeekr 009 Grand features a massive stainless steel grille that requires 30 hours of manual polishing to complete. It rides on a set of unique 20-inch forged wheels, which undergo a 10-step, 20-hour polishing process before having 240 laser-etched slashes cut into them. Zeekr says this “ensures a fine reflection of light whether the vehicle is moving or stationary”.
The real story, though, is in the rear passenger compartment, which is partitioned off from the front cabin by a privacy partition. Into this wall is built a 43-inch 4K LED screen, paired with a 31-speaker Yamaha surround sound system.
There are also two individual rear seats upholstered in aniline leather with 24-way power adjustment, heating, and massaging functions. The seats are separated by an elegant center console that houses an 8-inch touchscreen. The console also features retractable folding tables and a two-level, password-protected safe.
A closer look reveals a flower vase as well as hand-polished marble sourced from the Himalayas. Buyers will also find an 18-liter compartment that offers cooling and heating as well as a UV sterilization function. It can cool down to -6° C or heat up to 50° C.
The vehicle notably has a Privacy Mode. When the button is pressed, it closes all the curtains, while also darkening the windows and the sunroof. Additionally, the vehicle has an Incognito Mode. After a journey is complete, users can engage this mode to erase all the connectivity data of the trip.
It employs a dual-motor electric powertrain, a 108-kWh battery pack, and all-wheel drive, producing 778 horsepower. This enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, meaning it’s quicker and more powerful than a Cadillac Escalade-V.
In terms of range, buyers can expect to travel up to 702 kilometers on a single charge. Impressively, the car can recover 500km of range after just 12 minutes of charging.
In China, the Zeekr 009 Grand is priced from 789,000 yuan (US$108,973). While that’s hardly cheap, it still undercuts the likes of the Lexus LM and the Volvo EM90.
