Apart from Rolls-Royce and Bentley, Maybach is also a brand favored by many Vietnamese tycoons before this independent luxury car brand became a sub-brand of the German carmaker in 2014, similar to Mercedes-AMG before. A typical example is the Maybach 62S Zeppelin, limited to 100 units worldwide, but 6 of them appeared in Vietnam.
Recently, a rare Maybach 57S appeared on the used car market with a selling price of more than 8 billion VND, which also surprised many people. This price is even higher than a Mercedes-Maybach S 450 2024, which is currently listed at 8.2 billion VND. According to Auto568 – the unit offering the car, the car belongs to the 2009 model, bears a license plate from the capital city, and has traveled about 30,000 km.
At the time it was brought into the country, this super luxury sedan had an estimated after-tax price of about 1 million USD (equivalent to nearly 20 billion VND). After more than a decade of use, the car’s value has decreased by more than 50%. This loss is quite low because the selling price of a new Mercedes-Maybach S 680 2022 is 23 billion VND, now down to 14.7 billion VND.
Due to being less used, the black paint of the car still retains its glossy appearance and has no scratches or nicks. The chrome details such as the grille, logo, body side moldings, window trim, etc. are still shiny. The headlights do not even show any signs of yellowing after a long time of use.
The car uses a set of multi-spoke chrome wheels, size 20 inches on all four wheels. However, some scratches and fading have appeared on the rim of the wheels but not significantly.
Inside the interior of this Maybach 57S is a dominant white color tone, combined with a mysterious black tone, creating a luxurious feel for the car. Wrinkles on the high-quality leather seats are inevitable, but the leather’s tautness is still quite good. The physical buttons on the center console are also kept newer than many cars of the same age. The central entertainment screen is still original instead of being upgraded to a touch screen.
The standard equipment on the super luxury sedan includes multi-way power seats, front seats with cooling/heating, rear seats with only heating, 4-zone independent air conditioning, sunroof for the front seats, Bose premium audio system with 21 speakers, …
The rear seat is always the focal point on Maybachs, with two independent seats separated by a fixed armrest, integrated with function control buttons, storage compartment, DVD/CD player, … On the back of the front seats are two screens, serving the entertainment needs of the passengers sitting behind.
The Maybach 57S is powered by a 6.0-liter V12 engine, manufactured by Mercedes-AMG. This engine produces up to 603 horsepower and 1,001 Nm of torque. The “sibling” Maybach 57 standard only uses a 5.5L V12 engine with 543 horsepower. Although the exact specifications were not announced, the 57S can accelerate from 0-97 km/h in under 5 seconds.
With an amount of over 8 billion VND, many people will think that it is not worth choosing a 2009 luxury car and there are many choices such as the Mercedes-Maybach S 450 or the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 480.
However, the Maybach 57S has symbolic value and is a collectible model, intended for car enthusiasts. From its launch in 2005 to 2009 (before the facelift), the automaker produced only 503 units of the 57S.
