Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Electric Supercar Debuts with 1,092 Horsepower

After setting a new electric vehicle lap record at the Nürburgring earlier this year with a Taycan prototype, Porsche has finally unveiled the production version called the Taycan Turbo GT at the Laguna Seca raceway in California.

The new range-topping model in Porsche’s electric portfolio develops up to 1,092 hp and receives a host of aerodynamic and chassis upgrades. Furthermore, the optional Weissach package further reduces weight by deleting the rear seats and replacing them with a carbon fiber divider, transforming the car into a two-seater track-focused machine.

The Taycan Turbo GT takes the dual-motor electric powertrain from the Taycan Turbo S and bumps up the power to a total of 777 hp. With launch control activated, the output briefly increases to 1,019 hp and peaks at 1,092 hp for 2 seconds. These figures make the Taycan Turbo GT the most powerful production Porsche to date, surpassing all other Taycan variants and even the 918 Spyder. The torque is also rated at an astounding 1,340 Nm.

Porsche says the 2025 Taycan Turbo GT is capable of sprinting from 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in 2.2 seconds or 2.1 seconds with the optional Weissach package. Similarly, the 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) acceleration is done in 6.6 seconds or 6.4 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 190 mph (306 km/h).

Design-wise, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is distinguished from the regular versions by a reworked body kit that mimics the race car style. A prominent highlight is the adaptive rear wing. The front splitter and the rear diffuser incorporate small aerodynamic fins that work in conjunction with an aerodynamically optimized underbody.

There’s also a carbon fiber finish for the B-pillars, matching the side skirts and mirror caps. New 21-inch forged wheels are also part of the package. Six exterior colors are offered, including Pale Blue Metallic and Purple Sky Metallic. Moreover, customers can personalize the Taycan Turbo GT to their liking by adding decals or through the custom paint program offered by the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur division.

Inside the cabin, Porsche opted for Race-Tex material and black leather upholstery for the 18-way power-adjustable sport seats and the GT Sport steering wheel. Turbo GT badges are visible on the headrests and the center console. The cabin has a dark theme but can be optionally brightened up with contrasting Volt Blue or GT Silver accents.

For those who plan to push the envelope on the race track, there’s the Weissach package, which deletes the rear seats, analog clocks, floor mats and even some sound insulation for maximum weight reduction.

Furthermore, the Sound Package Plus removes the Bose sound system in favor of specially treated insulating and absorbing glass. With all these features, the Taycan Turbo GT loses 157 pounds (71 kg) compared to the Taycan Turbo S, improving its power-to-weight ratio.

Porsche says the Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package holds the record for the “fastest production electric vehicle” at the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca, with a lap time of 1 minute, 27.87 seconds.

In January 2024, a pre-production prototype of the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, driven by the same test driver, lapped the Nürburgring in 7 minutes, 7.55 seconds, beating the Tesla Model S Plaid by 18 seconds, the Taycan Turbo S by 26 seconds and falling just 2.25 seconds shy of the Rimac Nevera hypercar.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is scheduled to arrive in dealerships in the summer of 2024, with a starting price from $230,000 in the United States, marking a $21,000 premium over the Taycan Turbo S and making it the most expensive Taycan variant to date.
