The 2024 Volvo EM90 made its debut at the 2024 Beijing Motor Show in an alluring and sophisticated black exterior paint. It has been meticulously crafted to cater to the preferences of Chinese consumers.

The Swedish automaker cites the 1953 Duett, a station wagon produced until 1969, as the inspiration for the 2024 Volvo EM90. Additionally, the EM90 bears a striking resemblance to the Zeekr 009, a new MPV from the Geely Group. These two electric minivans appear almost like twins, sharing a nearly identical design, except for the EM90’s distinctive Volvo grille, Thor’s Hammer headlights, and a few other styling cues.

In essence, the EM90 could be considered a Zeekr 009 in Volvo clothing. It boasts overall dimensions of 5,209 x 2,024 x 1,867 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 3,205 mm.

Propelling the new EM90 is a single electric motor producing 268 horsepower, which is located on the rear axle. This powertrain enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds. A CATL 116 kWh battery pack is equipped, supporting DC fast charging from 10-80% in 30 minutes. The EM90 has a claimed range of 738 km according to the Chinese CLTC standard.

Stepping inside, the EM90’s interior is spacious, modern, and technologically advanced. Designed to serve as both a luxurious family vehicle and a mobile office on wheels, the EM90 features three rows of seats in a 2+2+2 layout. The seats are designed for comfort, offering power adjustments, heating, cooling, and foldable tray tables.

Occupants in the rear rows can enjoy a 15.6-inch display for entertainment or video conferencing.

As for the driver’s domain, we are greeted by a minimalist yet sophisticated and modern cockpit. The dashboard is dominated by a 15.4-inch tablet-style central infotainment display, with physical buttons kept to a minimum.

The EM90 is equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems that utilize an array of sensors, including high-resolution cameras, surround-view cameras, millimeter-wave radar, and ultrasonic radar.

The new EM90 will be sold exclusively in the Chinese market, with prices starting from 818,000 yuan, which is approximately equivalent to $114,000 USD.
