The Stelato S9 sedan has been formally unveiled at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, with Stelato being a joint venture between Huawei and BAIC BluePark, a subsidiary of BAIC Auto. The S9 is the first vehicle from Stelato.
The Stelato S9 is estimated to go on sale in July-August. The price range will probably be between CNY300,000 to CNY500,000, equivalent to $41,400-$69,000 USD, or approximately 980 million to 1.6 billion VND.
Despite Stelato’s ambitions of rivalling premium incumbents such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7-Series, at this price point, the S9 will enter a very competitive segment of the Chinese market, competing directly with rivals such as the Nio ET7, Geely’s Zeekr 001, and Changan’s Avatr 12, which also use Huawei’s technology.
The Stelato S9 is a large electric sedan with overall dimensions of 5,160 mm in length, 1,987 mm in width, and 1,486 mm in height, a wheelbase of 3,050 mm, and a curb weight that varies by variant between 2,216/2,246/2,366 kg.
Supplied by Huawei, the S9 will be offered with either a single-motor or dual-motor setup. The single-motor version makes 227 hp, while the dual-motor variant combines the rear-mounted 227 hp motor with an additional 158 hp front motor. The Stelato S9 will utilize a battery pack from CATL.
The Stelato S9’s design language is derived from its smaller sibling, the Luxeed S7 (which is backed by Huawei and Chery). It utilizes digital rearview mirrors and pop-out door handles to aid in aerodynamics. It sits on multi-spoke 21-inch wheels. The car will be offered in black, white, red, and yellow.
As seen in the Luxeed S7, the Stelato S9 is expected to feature Huawei’s xPixel headlight system, lidar sensors, a large central touchscreen running HarmonyOS 4, dual 50W wireless charging pads, and luxurious leather upholstery.
