The “heart” of the Jaecoo J8 PHEV is the 5th-generation hybrid powertrain of its parent company Chery. This powertrain includes a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine, combined with a 3-speed DHT gearbox and 2 electric motors located on the 2 axles. In total, the Jaecoo J8 PHEV has a maximum capacity of up to 605 horsepower and 915 Nm of torque, which is superior in the mid-size SUV segment.

The Jaecoo J8 PHEV has superior engine power compared to many D-segment SUVs currently on the market.

The aforementioned power allows the Jaecoo J8 PHEV to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds. Besides, this mid-size SUV can travel 175 km without consuming a drop of gasoline, according to the NEDC test cycle. If combining both gasoline engine and battery, the car can cover a total distance of 1,321 km.

Chery has not yet announced information about the Jaecoo J8 PHEV’s battery. It is only known that the car can use DC fast charging to charge the battery and has a V2L feature, allowing users to charge external devices outside the car.

Similar to the gasoline version launched in Malaysia, the Jaecoo J8 PHEV also has dimensions of length x width x height of 4,820 x 1,930 x 1,699 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. With these dimensions, the car will be a rival to the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento.

Not only the dimensions, but even the exterior design of the Jaecoo J8 PHEV is similar to the gasoline version, except for the appearance of the charging port. The highlight in the design of this model lies in the large hexagonal grille with vertical silver bars, the small horizontal headlights, integrated with LED daytime running lights, the “L”-shaped air vents at the two front corners of the car, the hidden door handles like electric cars, the smoothly sloping roof towards the rear, the 20-inch alloy wheels and the LED taillights that stretch across the tail of the car.

Inside the Jaecoo J8 PHEV is a 3-row, 6-seat interior instead of a 5-seat interior like the gasoline version. In which, in the middle of the car are 2 separate business seats.
