This afternoon, on April 26th, 2024, on the streets of District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, two eye-catching cars appeared. Despite being from different manufacturers, they shared a vibrant yellow exterior that commanded attention. These were two new models equipped with cutting-edge technology.
One was a Ferrari 296 supercar, the only Prancing Horse to feature a V6 PHEV powertrain. This model was the hardtop version, hence the name Ferrari 296 GTB, while the hardtop convertible version is known as the Ferrari 296 GTS. The second car was a super SUV, the Lamborghini Urus Performante.
While the yellow Ferrari 296 GTB supercar was still seeking a buyer with a price tag close to 23 billion VND, the Lamborghini Urus Performante super SUV had already found an owner in tycoon Quoc Vu, husband of Doan Di Bang, who purchased it from an authorized dealer.
An intriguing aspect of the new Ferrari 296 GTB supercar and the Lamborghini Urus Performante super SUV is their plug-in hybrid powertrains, which combine a 2.9-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 gasoline engine with an electric motor. This marks the return of the V6 engine after a five-decade absence. The internal combustion engine generates a maximum power of 654 horsepower, while the electric motor provides an additional 164 horsepower.
The maximum torque figures for the 296 GTB, provided by the internal combustion engine and electric motor, are 425 Nm and 315 Nm, respectively. The plug-in hybrid powertrain delivers a combined output of 818 horsepower and a peak torque of 740 Nm for the Ferrari 296 GTB.
The Ferrari 296 GTB can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds before reaching a top speed of 330 km/h. The plug-in hybrid model can travel a maximum distance of 25 km and reach a top speed of 135 km/h using only the electric motor.
Further exterior modifications on the Lamborghini Urus Performante include an active air intake grille, carbon fiber wheel arch covers, a larger rear wing that increases downforce by 38%, and ultra-lightweight 22-23 inch wheels fitted with titanium bolts and Pirelli P Zero tires developed specifically for this super SUV. At the rear, the Lamborghini Urus Performante sports a carbon fiber diffuser and rear bumper, as well as an Akrapovic sports exhaust system. According to Lamborghini, this vehicle boasts the most carbon fiber components in the SUV segment. Consequently, it is
