As reported earlier, shortly after its unveiling, Xiaomi SU7s were seen at 59 showrooms in 28 Chinese cities for test drives by customers and social media influencers. Some customers reportedly waited until 3 a.m. to test drive the electric car from China’s “Apple.”
According to Xiaomi’s announcement, just 24 hours after its debut, 88,898 Chinese customers had reserved the SU7, resulting in a half-year waitlist for delivery, depending on variant.
In the Chinese market, the Xiaomi SU7 comes in three variants – Standard RWD, Pro, and Max. With prices ranging from 215,900 to 299,900 yuan (around $30,000 to $42,000), the three trims are considerably less expensive than foreign rivals like the Tesla Model 3 and Porsche Taycan. Reportedly, the Xiaomi brand is selling the SU7 at a loss to give its debut car a competitive edge.

Positioned in the mid-size sedan segment, the Xiaomi SU7 features impressive performance specs. The Standard RWD and Pro variants are powered by a single electric motor positioned on the rear axle, delivering 295 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. The Max variant has two electric motors, one on each axle, producing a combined output of 663 horsepower and 838 Nm of torque.
The Standard RWD variant uses a BYD-made LFP Blade battery with a capacity of 73.6 kWh, offering a range of up to 700 km on a single charge according to China’s CLTC testing cycle. Meanwhile, the Pro variant uses a CATL Shenxing 94.3 kWh battery that extends its range to 830 km. The Max variant boasts a range of 800 km thanks to its 101 kWh CATL Qilin battery.
