Drawing inspiration from its bigger sibling, the Kia EV9, the Kia EV3 will reportedly take on a condensed version of the EV9’s design features. This design kinship suggests Kia’s plans to not only expand its electric vehicle (EV) lineup but also ensure a cohesive design language across its EV offerings.
We previously caught a glimpse of the Kia EV3’s interior via spy shots of a prototype undergoing testing. Inside the cabin, the EV3 features a digital cockpit with dual displays and a minimalist dashboard design. We can also observe an array of shortcut buttons below the infotainment screen, a climate control toggle switch, and more buttons on the “floating” center console. In line with Kia’s approach, we can expect sustainable materials to be used throughout the cabin.
Like all Hyundai and Kia EVs, the EV3 will ride on the E-GMP platform. However, in a bid to reduce costs, Kia could equip the EV3 with 400V technology instead of the more expensive 800V found in its larger siblings. It’s possible that the base EV3 will feature a single electric motor and a 58 kWh battery pack. Additionally, a high-performance GT variant is believed to be in the works.
Kia has shared target pricing between $30,000 and $80,000 for its upcoming EVs, with the EV3 expected to slot in near the lower end of that range. In Europe, the EV3’s rivals will likely include the Peugeot e-2008 and Ford Puma-E.
