As previously reported, the Vietnamese automotive market will be introducing a new Chinese brand in 2024, the Aion from GAC Group. According to an official announcement by Aion on their fanpage, the brand will be launching in Vietnam as early as June this year.

Initially, the Aion brand will be introducing 3 models to the Vietnamese market, including the Y Plus, ES, and Hyper HT. Below, let’s take a closer look at these 3 upcoming Aion electric vehicles in Vietnam.

Aion Y Plus

Vietnam is not the first Southeast Asian market for the Aion Y Plus, as it is currently available in Thailand with 2 variants priced from 969,000 – 1,099,900 Baht (approximately 660 – 748 million VND).

The Aion Y Plus will be one of the 3 models introduced in Vietnam this year.

Positioned in the C-segment for electric SUVs, the Aion Y Plus measures 4,535 x 1,870 x 1,650 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. Thus, it shares similar dimensions to the VinFast VF7, but with a shorter wheelbase.

The Aion Y Plus resembles an MPV more than an SUV.

Despite being categorized as an SUV, the Aion Y Plus adopts an MPV-like design. In the Thai market, notable features include LED lighting all around, 17-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch central touchscreen, 32-color ambient lighting, electronic parking brake with auto hold, wireless phone charging, Type-A USB ports, automatic air conditioning, and rear air vents.

The Aion Y Plus has already made an appearance at dealerships in Ho Chi Minh City, where customers can view the vehicle and place deposits.

Aion ES

Similar to the Y Plus, the Aion ES has also arrived in Vietnam and is currently on display at dealerships in Ho Chi Minh City. However, unlike the Y Plus, the Aion ES is a sedan.

The Aion ES is a fully electric sedan.

The Aion ES measures 4,810 x 1,880 x 1,515 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. With these dimensions, the ES is positioned in the D-segment for sedans.

Aion Hyper HT

Compared to the aforementioned Aion models, the Aion Hyper HT is positioned as a more premium offering. Similar to the Y Plus, the Hyper HT also belongs to the SUV segment.

The Aion Hyper HT will be the most premium model offered in Vietnam.

With dimensions of 4,935 x 1,920 x 1,700 mm and a wheelbase of 2,935 mm, the Aion Hyper HT is larger than the Y Plus. Compared to VinFast models, it is bigger than the VF8 but smaller than the VF9.

The design highlight of the Aion Hyper HT is its falcon-wing doors, similar to those found on the Tesla Model X. In fact, the overall design of the Chinese SUV also bears a resemblance to its American rival.

The Aion Hyper HT features a 2-row, 5-seat interior layout.
