Toyota Wigo: 267 units sold

The decline of the Hyundai Grand i10 allowed the Toyota Wigo to take the top spot in the A-segment for April 2024. Specifically, this A-segment model sold 267 units, a decrease of 7.2%. It is a rare occasion for the Toyota Wigo to outperform its Korean rival.

Toyota Wigo leads the A-segment.

Unlike the Hyundai Grand i10 and Kia Morning, the Toyota Wigo has been updated to a new generation since 2023. This new generation model boasts notable features such as LED headlights, electrically adjustable and foldable mirrors, 14-inch alloy wheels, a 7-inch central touchscreen, and a four-speaker audio system. Remarkably, it also offers rare safety features in this segment, including a Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA).

The Toyota Wigo in Vietnam is powered by a new 1.2L gasoline engine, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a Dual-CVT automatic transmission. This engine delivers a maximum output of 87 horsepower and a peak torque of 113 Nm.

Currently, the Toyota Wigo is priced between 360 and 405 million VND, offering two versions to choose from.

Hyundai Grand i10: 229 units sold

In April 2024, the Hyundai Grand i10 sold only 229 units, a significant drop of 61.7% compared to the previous month. Not only did it have the highest sales decline in the segment, but it also lost its top position to the Toyota Wigo, settling for second place.

According to Hyundai Thanh Cong, the drop in sales is due to an upcoming upgraded version of the Grand i10 in Vietnam. The launch date of this new model has not yet been announced. The upgraded Grand i10 is expected to feature a design similar to the one currently sold in the Indian market.

The new Hyundai Grand i10 in Vietnam may feature this design.

To clear existing inventory, Hyundai Thanh Cong is offering two incentive packages for Grand i10 buyers in May 2024. The first package offers a promotional interest rate of 0% for 12 months (with deferred principal payment of up to 9 months, depending on the bank). The second package provides financial support of up to 50% of the registration fee.

The Hyundai Grand i10 currently offers six versions, with prices ranging from 360 to 455 million VND. In addition to its affordable price tag, this Korean model boasts notable features such as LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, fog lights, LED taillights, 14- to 15-inch wheels, electrically adjustable and foldable mirrors with turn signals, an analog instrument cluster with a 5.3-inch multi-information display, an 8-inch entertainment screen, leather seats, a four-speaker audio system, and cruise control.

Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.2L Kappa MPI gasoline engine that produces a maximum output of 83 horsepower and a peak torque of 114 Nm. The engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission, depending on the version.

Kia Morning: 64 units sold

The Kia Morning continues to hold the last place in the A-segment, selling only 64 units in April, a decrease of 12.3% compared to the previous month.

Kia Morning remains the lowest-selling model in the segment.

Similar to its sibling from the same group, the Hyundai Grand i10, the Kia Morning also offers six versions, with prices ranging from 349 to 424 million VND. While it is more affordable than its rivals, its equipment is somewhat lacking in comparison. The Kia Morning features halogen headlights and does not offer cruise control.

Additionally, the Kia Morning comes with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, electrically adjustable and foldable mirrors with turn signals, 14- to 15-inch wheels, an analog instrument cluster with a multi-information display, an 8-inch central screen, a four- to six-speaker audio system, and automatic air conditioning.

Powering the Korean model is a 1.25L Kappa gasoline engine that delivers a maximum output of 83 horsepower and a peak torque of 120 Nm. It is paired with either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission.
