In April 2024, the majority of subcompact SUVs in Vietnam witnessed a decline in sales compared to the previous month. The Hyundai Venue was the only model in this segment to post positive growth.

Kia Sonet: 563 units sold
In April, Kia sold 563 Sonet SUVs to Vietnamese customers. Compared to March 2024, sales of this Korean model decreased by 25%. Despite having the highest sales decline in the segment, the Kia Sonet maintained its leading position in terms of sales performance.

Since May 10, 2024, the Kia Sonet lineup has seen a price adjustment by the distributor, THACO. As a result, the 1.5 Deluxe version of this subcompact SUV is now priced at 519 million VND, a reduction of 5 million VND. The other two variants maintain their original price range of 549-579 million VND.
The Kia Sonet offers a host of appealing features to Vietnamese customers, including an attractive price point, stylish exterior design, and relatively rich equipment for its class. It boasts full LED headlights with auto on/off functionality, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control with rear seat vents, a sunroof, wireless phone charging, and a six-speaker audio system.
Under the hood, the Kia Sonet is powered by a Smartstream 1.5L gasoline engine that delivers a maximum output of 113 horsepower and a peak torque of 144 Nm. This engine is paired with either a Smartstream IVT intelligent continuously variable transmission or a six-speed manual gearbox.

Similar to previous months, the Toyota Raize retained its position as the second best-selling subcompact SUV. It recorded sales of 295 units in April 2024, representing a decrease of 24.7%.

The Toyota Raize is currently the most affordable model in the subcompact SUV segment. However, it is only offered in a single variant, providing limited choices for customers.
Aside from its competitive pricing, the Toyota Raize boasts a compact and robust design, adequate equipment levels, and a strong brand image. Notable features include full LED lighting, 17-inch sporty alloy wheels, a steering wheel with paddle shifters, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, push-button start, automatic climate control, Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) with four front and rear sensors, and six airbags.
The Toyota Raize is powered by a turbocharged 1.0L gasoline engine that generates a maximum output of 98 horsepower and a peak torque of 140 Nm. This engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission (D-CVT).

As mentioned earlier, the Hyundai Venue was the only model in the segment to experience sales growth. With 271 units sold in April 2024, it posted a slight increase of 2.7%. Nonetheless, the Hyundai Venue remained in the third position in terms of sales within the subcompact SUV segment.

The Hyundai Venue is available in Vietnam with two variants, priced from 539 to 579 million VND. Similar to its cousin, the Kia Sonet, the Venue stands out with its eye-catching design and relatively generous equipment levels.
It features LED lighting, 16-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a USB Type-C charging port, a six-speaker audio system, push-button start, smart key, automatic climate control with rear seat vents, six airbags, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, cruise control, speed limiter, tire pressure monitoring system, and automatic headlights.
The Hyundai Venue’s strength also lies in its engine. It is equipped with a turbocharged 1.0L three-cylinder inline gasoline engine that produces 120 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and front-wheel drive.
