Toyota has announced the arrival of the 2024 Corolla Cross in Vietnam. Compared to the current generation, the 2024 Corolla Cross will have one less version, while the listed price has also changed significantly.

Slightly Cheaper Than Its Predecessor

Specifically, the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross is imported from Thailand and will be available at Toyota dealerships nationwide from May 6th with two versions: V and HEV. The listed price of the car has been reduced by 40-50 million VND compared to the previous generation, bringing the V version down to 820 million VND, and the HEV version will be listed at 905 million VND.

Speaking to Tri Thức – Znews, staff at several Toyota dealerships revealed that customers who have made deposits will receive their vehicles around May-June. Thus, it is likely that this group of customers will be able to take delivery of their vehicles not long after the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross officially arrives at Vietnamese dealerships.

In terms of exterior, the 2024 Corolla Cross will feature a honeycomb-designed grille. The LED headlights with integrated turn signals are also a notable feature on the new model.

As for equipment, the 2024 Corolla Cross will come with an electronic parking brake and auto-hold function on both versions. A 12.3-inch multi-information display screen behind the steering wheel and a 10-inch entertainment screen (exclusive to the HEV version) are notable upgrades for the Corolla Cross, along with wireless charging and a rear parking assist feature on the highest-end version.

The engine of the Corolla Cross 1.8V version has a capacity of 1.8L, producing a maximum output of 140 horsepower and a peak torque of 177 Nm. The HEV version is equipped with a hybrid engine, combining a 1.8L gasoline engine (98 horsepower, 142 Nm) and an electric motor (72 horsepower, 163 Nm).

Still the Most Expensive Urban SUV in the Market

With a listed price range of 820-905 million VND, the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross remains the most expensive urban SUV in its segment.

Its “little brother”, the Toyota Yaris Cross, is currently priced at 650-765 million VND, while the Hyundai Creta is listed at 599-699 million VND. The recently introduced Kia Seltos 2024 has a price range of 599-739 million VND, and the Mitsubishi Xforce, also a newcomer, has a starting price below 600 million VND, currently ranging from 599 million to 680 million VND.

When compared to B-segment SUVs such as the Mazda CX-30 (679-739 million VND) or the Peugeot 2008 (719-759 million VND), the Toyota Corolla Cross 2024 is also considered to have little price advantage.

Last year, the Toyota Corolla Cross lagged behind in the last quarter and had to settle for second place as the best-selling urban SUV in Vietnam. Its 12-month sales in 2023 totaled 10,485 units, while the Hyundai Creta achieved a sales figure of 10,719 units.

The urban SUV segment is considered one of the hottest in the Vietnamese market in 2024. Right from the start of the year, a series of B/B+ SUVs have had their listed prices adjusted, including the Toyota Yaris Cross, Mazda CX-3, Mazda CX-30, Hyundai Creta, and the new Mitsubishi Xforce.

Kia introduced the 2024 Seltos to the Vietnamese market with a new price range not long before Toyota’s official announcement of the 2024 Corolla Cross. This segment is expected to welcome the entry of the Omoda C5 and Haval Jolion, two models from Chinese auto brands.

After the first two months of the year, the Honda HR-V is currently the best-selling B-segment SUV with cumulative sales of 1,082 units. Following closely are the Kia Seltos with 725 units and the Hyundai Creta with 651 units.
