Similar to other car segments, the C-segment sedans witnessed a decline in sales in April 2024. Most C-segment sedans experienced negative growth, with the exception of the Honda Civic.

C-segment Sedan Sales Table for April 2024 (unit: cars)
Mazda3: 337 units sold
Mazda3 couldn’t escape the overall market decline, selling only 337 units in April, a 3.7% decrease. Nonetheless, it remained the best-selling C-segment sedan for April 2024.
Mazda3
Mazda3 boasts a sleek and appealing exterior design, along with competitive comfort and safety features that match its rivals. Its strongest suit, however, is its pricing, with a range of only VND 579-739 million for four different trims. It is one of the most affordable C-segment sedans in Vietnam.
Depending on the trim, the Mazda3 comes equipped with LED lighting all around, 16- to 18-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable/folding/auto-dimming/memory side mirrors, leather seats, power-adjustable/memory driver’s seat, an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an eight-speaker audio system, a sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, a head-up display, a sunroof, an electronic parking brake, auto brake hold, dual-zone automatic climate control, and auto-dimming rearview mirrors.
Under the hood, the C-segment sedan is powered by a 1.5L SkyActiv-G four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 110 horsepower and 146 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission and an advanced GVC Plus acceleration control system.
Kia K3: 271 units sold
The Kia K3 maintained its position as the second best-selling C-segment sedan in April 2024, with 271 units sold, a slight 0.3% decrease compared to March 2024.
Kia K3
The Kia K3 stands out with its fashionable design, abundant comfort features, and competitive pricing ranging from VND 549-714 million. Starting from May 10, 2024, the 2.0 AT Premium and 1.6 Turbo trims received a price reduction of VND 20 million, resulting in new prices of VND 619 million and VND 714 million, respectively.
Additionally, the Kia K3 offers three engine options. The first is a 1.6L gasoline engine that generates 126 horsepower and 155 Nm of torque, paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission, depending on the trim. The second is a 2.0L engine that produces 150 horsepower and 192 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Lastly, there’s a turbocharged 1.6L gasoline engine that delivers 201 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque, coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Unfortunately, the Kia K3 lacks the advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) found in its competitors.
Honda Civic: 197 units sold
The Honda Civic was the only C-segment sedan to experience positive growth in April, with a remarkable 103% increase in sales. A total of 197 units were sold, propelling the Honda Civic to third place in the segment, surpassing the Hyundai Elantra and Toyota Corolla Altis.
Honda Civic
The Honda Civic doesn’t have a pricing advantage, with a range of VND 730-870 million for three different trims. However, during May 2024, the brand is offering a 100% registration fee waiver, allowing customers to save between VND 73-87 million.
To compensate, the Honda Civic offers attractive design, abundant features, a powerful engine, and highly-regarded driving dynamics. It comes equipped with leather seats, power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system. Additionally, it includes advanced safety features through the Honda Sensing suite.
The Honda Civic is powered by a turbocharged 1.5L gasoline engine that produces 178 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. It is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive.
Hyundai Elantra: 118 units sold
The unexpected success of the Honda Civic pushed the Hyundai Elantra down to fourth place in the segment. In April, the Elantra sold only 118 units, a significant 20.8% decrease, making it the model with the highest sales decline in the segment.
Hyundai Elantra
Similar to its corporate sibling, the Kia K3, the Hyundai Elantra is well-regarded for its design, features, and engine options. It offers three engine choices: the Gamma II 1.6L gasoline engine, the Nu 2.0L gasoline engine, and the turbocharged 1.6L gasoline engine. The power output ranges from 128 to 204 horsepower and 155 to 265 Nm of torque.
In terms of comfort and convenience, the Elantra comes with LED headlights, hands-free power trunk, automatic wipers, a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel, power-adjustable leather seats, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, and a six-speaker audio system.
The Hyundai Elantra is priced between VND 599-799 million for four different trims.
Toyota Corolla Altis: 36 units sold
The Toyota Corolla Altis has consistently underperformed in terms of sales throughout 2024, and April was no exception. With only 36 units sold, the brand witnessed a 2.7% decline, placing the Corolla Altis at the bottom of the C-segment sedan market.
Toyota Corolla Altis
The Toyota Corolla Altis received an upgraded version in October 2023, which included additional features such as a digital instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch multi-information display, auto-adjusting side mirrors during reverse, a blind-spot monitoring system, a rear cross-traffic alert system, and a 360-degree camera. Consequently, the price was slightly increased to a range of VND 725-870 million.
Under the hood, the Toyota Corolla Altis continues to offer two engine choices: a 1.8L four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 138 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque, or a hybrid system combining a 1.8L gasoline engine with an electric motor for a total output of 122 horsepower. Both options are paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive.
