That’s a higher price than a brand-new Ford Ranger Raptor, including registration fees. But why is the seller so confident in their asking price? Let’s find out.
The 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor: A sleek and powerful truck.
The advertisement reveals that this particular Ford Ranger Raptor has already clocked over 5,000 kilometers. While that’s a significant distance, it’s still acceptable for a used vehicle. Additionally, the truck has been fitted with some minor accessories, such as heat-resistant film, a ceramic coating, an electric tonneau cover, and a tailgate assist. However, these additions don’t quite justify the high asking price.
The real reason for the steep price tag becomes apparent when we look at the truck’s license plate: 51D-969.99. This distinctive and desirable number is what’s driving up the cost.
According to our sources, the highest offer received for this license plate is VND 290 million. Even after deducting the cost of the plate, the truck itself still amounts to VND 1.2 billion, which is not much lower than the price of a new one.
The seller assures potential buyers that the license plate can be transferred to the new owner, as per legal regulations. However, this transfer can only be done once, meaning that whoever purchases this Ford Ranger Raptor must accept that they will lose the coveted license plate if they decide to sell the truck or when it reaches the end of its lifespan. The plate will be revoked, and the new owner will have to part with the desirable number 51D-969.99, valued at VND 300 million.
The 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor available in Vietnam is equipped with a 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged diesel engine, while the more powerful 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine option is not offered. The diesel engine produces between 284 and 392 horsepower and between 491 and 583 Nm of torque, depending on the market.
The Ford Ranger Raptor’s engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system that includes a two-speed transfer case, electronic locking differentials on both axles, and the ability to switch to rear-wheel drive. Drivers can choose from various drive modes, including Normal, Sport, Slippery, Rock Crawl, Mud/Ruts, Sand, and Baja. Additionally, the exhaust system can be customized with four sound profiles: Quiet, Normal, Sport, and Baja.
