The price adjustments for the Ford Territory and Hyundai Tucson are seen as a move to enhance their competitiveness in the face of pricing pressure from the Mazda CX-5.
Last July, the new generation Mazda CX-5 was introduced to the Vietnamese market, and after several adjustments, the best-selling C-segment SUV now has listed prices ranging from 759 million to 999 million VND, depending on the version.
Its highly accessible pricing is believed to be the reason behind the Mazda CX-5’s surge in sales during the second half of 2023, with four consecutive months as the best-selling car in the entire Vietnamese automobile market.
The Mazda CX-5 also ended last year with a total sales volume of 16,808 units, becoming the third best-selling car in the market and the C-segment SUV of choice for Vietnamese customers. In comparison, the Ford Territory sold 8,096 units, while the Hyundai Tucson and Honda CR-V sold 6,164 and 5,758 units, respectively.
Among these competitors, the listed price of the Honda CR-V remains unchanged, but some dealerships are offering incentives worth up to 170 million VND for the 2023-produced CR-V G version.
Earlier this year, Thaco also adjusted the listed price of the Kia Sportage in a customer-friendly manner. The Kia Sportage saw a price drop of 50 million VND, applicable to the 2.0D Signature and 2.0D Signature X-Line versions, bringing the listed price of both versions to 939 million VND.
