The all-new Hyundai Accent made its debut yesterday (30/5) with a starting price of 439 million VND, reaching up to 569 million VND for the highest trim. This is the first time that the Korean sedan is priced higher than the Toyota Vios (458-545 million VND), a contrast to its previous generation’s strategy of competing based on affordability.
Unlike its predecessor, the 2024 Accent drops the manual transmission option and introduces a new high-end automatic transmission variant.
So, what does the highest trim of the 2024 Hyundai Accent have to offer to justify its 569 million VND price tag?
Exterior of the 2024 Hyundai Accent Highest Trim
The 2024 Hyundai Accent is built on a new platform, resulting in a complete design overhaul. The front end is much sharper than its predecessor, featuring a large grille with a Stargazer-like LED daytime running light strip above it.
The headlights are positioned below, connecting with the grille and utilizing LED technology, while the fog lights remain traditional halogen bulbs.
The highest trim retains the 16-inch alloy wheels but with a more attractive and sportier design compared to the previous generation.
The side mirrors on this trim are electrically adjustable, foldable, and heated, but it does not come with a 360-degree camera.
The car’s silhouette has a fastback-like appearance, with significant increases in dimensions. It is now 4,535 mm long (+95 mm), 1,765 mm wide (+36 mm), and 1,485 mm tall (+15 mm).
The rear combination lights are LED and connected, reminiscent of the Elantra, its “older brother.”
Interior of the 2024 Hyundai Accent Highest Trim
The 2024 Accent’s cabin features modern updates, with a class-leading wheelbase of 2,670 mm, the largest in the B-segment sedan class and approaching C-segment proportions.
The new steering wheel has a two-spoke design but has been a subject of debate, with some users finding it underwhelming.
Paddle shifters are exclusive to the two highest AT trims.
Behind the steering wheel is a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that can change colors depending on the drive mode.
The 8-inch infotainment screen is slightly on the smaller side due to its integration with the multi-information display. However, it supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The Hyundai Accent AT Cao Cap is the only trim to feature automatic climate control and front seat cooling. It also includes several USB-A and USB-C charging ports, wireless phone charging, and a standard six-speaker audio system.
The gear shifter has a new design, similar to the Hyundai Elantra. Unfortunately, the handbrake remains mechanical rather than electronic, as some users had hoped. Other conveniences include cruise control, speed limit assist, and remote start.
The front seats are manually adjustable.
The rear AC vents are integrated with two USB-C charging ports.
The rear seats offer ample space, and this is the only trim with a center armrest.
2024 Hyundai Accent Engine
The new-generation Hyundai Accent is powered by a new SmartStream G 1.5L engine, producing 113 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque, an improvement over the previous generation. The transmission has also been updated from automatic to continuously variable transmission (CVT), promising a smoother driving experience.
The 1.5L engine of the 2024 Hyundai Accent is also found in other Hyundai Thanh Cong products, such as the Creta and Stargazer.
Safety Features of the 2024 Hyundai Accent Highest Trim
At a price of 569 million VND, the highest trim of the 2024 Hyundai Accent boasts the Hyundai SmartSense technology package, offering superior safety features compared to the Toyota Vios and competing with the Honda City.
Specifically, this system includes features such as forward collision avoidance, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and forward vehicle movement alert.
Standard safety equipment includes ABS/EBD/BA, a rearview camera, hill-start assist, tire pressure monitoring, electronic stability control, and six airbags.
Conclusion
Compared to its predecessor, the 2024 Hyundai Accent introduces numerous upgrades that focus on enhancing the user experience. In addition to the Honda City, Vietnamese customers now have another option when considering a B-segment sedan with advanced safety features. Furthermore, the 2024 Hyundai Accent continues to offer lower-priced variants to cater to diverse customer needs.
Overall, the updates to the Accent 2024 are expected to maintain its leading position in the segment. From the beginning of the year to the end of April, the Korean model sold a total of 3,096 units, significantly outpacing the Toyota Vios (2,680 units) and the Honda City (2,570 units).
