Bangkok Exhibition Week 2024: Over 53,000 Car Deals Finalized.

Electric vehicles are taking the automotive industry by storm, with nearly one-third of orders placed at the recent International Auto Show in Bangkok, Thailand, being for these eco-friendly cars.

After a two-week exhibition, the organizers of the Bangkok International Motor Show 2024 (BIMS 2024) announced the total number of orders that car manufacturers successfully “closed” at this event.

Exhibition “Sell Cars”

Accordingly, during the BIMS 2024 period from March 25 to April 7, there were a total of 53,438 cars that were “closed” by the manufacturers with customers. Besides, visitors also completed 5,173 orders for motorcycles, bringing the total number of orders booked at the 45th BIMS exhibition to 58,611 vehicles, up 27.5% compared to the figure recorded at the event last year.

Mr. Jaturon Komolmit – Director of Grand Prix International and Vice Chairman of the BIMS 2024 Organizing Committee – said that the 45th auto show in Bangkok attracted a total of more than 1.61 million visitors within two weeks.

“Electric cars account for more than 32.78% of the total number of bookings made by visitors at the event,” shared Mr. Jaturon Komolmit.

He also said that Chinese cars are also a bright spot at BIMS 2024. The group of electric cars from the country of billions, along with a series of electric car products of other brands, received a total of 17,517 orders during the event, along with 35,921 bookings for internal combustion engine models.

Toyota is the most successful car manufacturer at BIMS 2024, receiving a total of 8,540 car reservations after the two-week event. BYD ranked second with a total of 5,345 cars “closed orders”, while Honda also received 4,607 car orders within the framework of the exhibition.

VinFast does not disclose order numbers

In the group of motorcycles and scooters, Yamaha led with a total of 1,171 bookings recorded at BIMS 2024. Strom – a Thai motorcycle company – ranked second with 780 orders, while Honda and VinFast did not announce figures related to motorcycle and scooter bookings received at the event.

Similarly, VinFast also did not announce information related to the number of car reservations received within the framework of BIMS 2024. The Vietnamese electric car company participated in the Bangkok Motor Show for the first time with a complete range of products including the mini-SUV VF 3, the SUV models spanning from segments A to E such as VF 5, VF e34, VF 6, VF 7, VF 8 and VF 9, besides the pickup truck concept VinFast VF Wild which appeared at CES 2024 earlier this year.

According to the organizer, the 46th BIMS event is expected to take place from March 26, 2025 to April 6, 2025 at the IMPACT Challenger center in Bangkok, Thailand.

In fact, some car shows around the world have gradually transformed from a place for car manufacturers to showcase new technologies or future design trends to a place to increase sales.

Car exhibitions in Vietnam are also gradually following this trend, as car manufacturers reduce concept products and focus on new product launches or products that have been launched. market, along with test drive programs within the framework of the exhibition and attractive incentives for customers.

This can help the market’s sales increase slightly in the short term, but it also makes some luxury car manufacturers unwilling to appear at the “car market”
