C-segment SUV Sales Table for April 2024 (units: vehicles)

Mazda CX-5: 800 units sold

In April, Mazda sold a total of 800 CX-5 units to Vietnamese customers, a 12.2% decrease from the previous month. Despite this, the CX-5 remains the top-selling model in the C-segment SUV market in Vietnam. It also ranked 8th in the top 10 best-selling cars in the overall market for the month.

Mazda CX-5

Mazda CX-5

For May 2024, the Mazda CX-5 continues to offer promotional prices ranging from VND 749 million to VND 979 million. Compared to the previous list price, this C-segment SUV is now more affordable by VND 10-20 million, depending on the version. With this competitive pricing, it’s no surprise that the Mazda model continues to be a popular choice in its segment.

Not only is the Mazda CX-5 one of the most affordable C-segment SUVs in Vietnam, but it also appeals to customers with its design, comfortable interior, and comprehensive safety features. It offers two gasoline engine options with displacements of 2.0L and 2.5L. Depending on the version, the CX-5 comes with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Honda CR-V: 626 units sold

Similar to its rival, the Mazda CX-5, the Honda CR-V also experienced a less successful month in April. With 626 units sold, the CR-V saw a 3.5% decrease in sales compared to the previous month, placing it second in the C-segment SUV segment.

Honda CR-V

Honda CR-V

Of the total sales of the Honda CR-V, 534 units were of the hybrid e:HEV RS version, while the remaining 92 units were of the gasoline-powered version. This result is quite surprising, as the Honda CR-V e:HEV RS has not had any promotional programs like the 2WD G and L versions in the past months. Thanks to its strong sales, the Honda CR-V e:HEV RS was the best-selling hybrid model in Vietnam in April 2024.

In May, the Honda CR-V continues to offer attractive incentives, including a 100% registration fee waiver and a one-year body insurance package for the 2WD G and L versions. Additionally, the G version also comes with a VND 30 million cash gift, bringing the total benefits to VND 141 million. With these promotions, the Honda CR-V is expected to remain a popular choice for Vietnamese customers.

The Honda CR-V has one of the highest price tags in its segment, ranging from VND 1.109 billion to VND 1.31 billion. However, its strong brand reputation, sporty design, and advanced comfort and safety features make it a favored choice among customers.

Notably, the Honda CR-V is one of the few C-segment SUVs in Vietnam to offer a hybrid engine option, alongside the Haval H6. The hybrid version of the CR-V is powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 146 horsepower. This is combined with two electric motors, resulting in a total output of 181 horsepower. The total power output of the vehicle is 204 horsepower with a maximum torque of 335 Nm.

Meanwhile, the gasoline-powered version of the CR-V is equipped with a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that delivers 188 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and is available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Hyundai Tucson: 480 units sold

Ranking third in the C-segment SUV market is the Hyundai Tucson, with 480 units sold in April. This represents a significant 63.3% increase compared to March 2024. The Tucson has the highest growth rate among its competitors in the segment.

Hyundai Tucson

Hyundai Tucson

This impressive performance can be attributed to the reduced sticker price implemented by Hyundai Thanh Cong for the Tucson starting April 1, 2024. The current price range for the Hyundai Tucson is VND 769 million to VND 919 million, a reduction of VND 30-50 million depending on the version.

In addition to its attractive pricing, the Hyundai Tucson offers unique design elements, spacious interiors thanks to its large wheelbase, and a diverse range of engine options. The vehicle is available with three engine choices: a Smartstream 4-cylinder 2.0L gasoline engine, a Smartstream 4-cylinder 2.0L diesel engine, and a turbocharged 4-cylinder 1.6L gasoline engine.

The Tucson’s power output ranges from 156 to 180 horsepower and 192 to 416 Nm of torque. These engines are paired with either a 6-speed automatic, an 8-speed automatic, or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The vehicle also offers front-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive HTRAC, depending on the version.

Ford Territory: 449 units sold

The strong performance of the Hyundai Tucson pushed the Ford Territory down to fourth place in the segment. In April 2024, Ford sold 449 units of the Territory, a 25.4% decrease compared to the previous month.

Ford Territory

Ford Territory

Similar to the Hyundai Tucson, the Ford Territory also underwent a price adjustment in April 2024, with a new price range of VND 799 million to VND 929 million. This represented a reduction of VND 20-25 million compared to the previous price. For May 2024, Ford not only maintained the promotional price but also offered an additional 2-year extended warranty and a 2-year free periodic maintenance package worth VND 30.7 million for all three versions.

The Ford Territory is a C-segment SUV with a robust presence, eye-catching design, spacious interior, and an array of comfort and safety features. It is powered by a 1.5L EcoBoost turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 160 horsepower and 248 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Kia Sportage: 212 units sold

Following in the footsteps of its sister model, the Hyundai Tucson, the Kia Sportage also experienced positive growth in April. With 212 units sold, the Sportage achieved a 38.5% increase in sales. However, its ranking within the segment remained unchanged.

Kia Sportage

Kia Sportage

Since its launch in the Vietnamese market, the Kia Sportage has not achieved particularly high sales figures. This can be partly attributed to the initially high price of the model.

In May 2024, the price of the Kia Sportage has been adjusted to a more competitive range of VND 779 million to VND 999 million for its eight versions. The Sportage offers the most versions within the C-segment SUV market in Vietnam. Additionally, it shares the same three engine options as the Hyundai Tucson.

Mitsubishi Outlander: 62 units sold

The Mitsubishi Outlander continues to hold the last position in the C-segment SUV market, with modest sales of 62 units in April, a 31.8% decrease compared to the previous month. Cumulative sales for the Outlander in 2024 stand at 253 units.

Mitsubishi Outlander

Mitsubishi Outlander

In May 2024, Mitsubishi is offering a 100% registration fee waiver and a 360-degree camera worth VND 20 million for the 2.0 CVT version with a 2023 VIN. This promotion can save customers up to VND 82 million in registration fees. For the 2024 VIN version, Mitsubishi is offering a 50% registration fee waiver (approximately VND 41 million) and a 360-degree camera.

For the 2.0 CVT Premium version, Mitsubishi is providing a 100% registration fee waiver, a fuel voucher worth VND 30 million, a 360-degree camera, and a special interest rate support package (MMV Auto Finance). The registration fee waiver for this version is valued at approximately VND 95 million.

The Mitsubishi Outlander has not received any significant updates in terms of design or features for a while. Its comfort and safety equipment also lag behind its competitors in the segment. Therefore, it is not surprising that the model ranks last in the C-segment SUV market.

The Mitsubishi Outlander is powered by a 2.0L MIVEC 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 145 horsepower and 196 Nm of torque. It is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The Outlander is priced between VND 825 million and VND 950 million for its two versions.
