MG officially unveiled its MG4 EV electric car in Vietnam on June 1st, 2024, with the Chinese car quickly becoming available at local MG dealerships across the country.
The MG4 EV electric car has arrived at Vietnamese dealerships, offering a competitive alternative to the VinFast VF6.
In the Vietnamese market, the MG4 EV is offered in two variants: the DEL and LUX, priced at 828 million VND and 948 million VND, respectively. This positions the MG4 EV significantly higher than its rival, the VinFast VF6, which has a price range of 776-866 million VND when including the cost of the battery.
The reason for the MG4 EV’s higher price tag is that it is a fully imported vehicle from China. Despite currently being assembled at a factory in Thailand, MG has opted not to import from there, potentially due to tax considerations.

MG itself does not expect the MG4 EV to achieve high sales figures in Vietnam due to the lack of charging infrastructure. According to the SAIC Group’s subsidiary brand, the MG4 EV targets existing car owners who are interested in experiencing electric vehicles.
Built on the Modular Scalable Platform (MSP), the MG4 EV has compact dimensions of 4,287 mm in length, 1,836 mm in width, and 1,504 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,705 mm and a minimum turning radius of 5.3 m. In addition to its compact size, the car combines the design of crossover and hatchback segments, offering a unique look.
Featuring the “Energetic Agility” design language, this Chinese model impresses with its triangular LED headlights that sweep back towards the rear, integrated with LED daytime running lights. Other notable features include vertical front fog lights, a sporty front bumper with a wide central air intake, and a U-shaped hood line.

The car has a rear-wheel drive and features 5 driving modes: Standard, Sport, Custom, Snow, and Eco. The One Pedal function allows for convenient single-pedal driving.

According to MG, owners can charge their MG4 EV at home or at public charging stations operated by independent providers, excluding VinFast. The home charger is a 6.6 kW unit that fully charges the battery in 7.5 hours. The DEL variant supports 88 kW DC fast charging, while the LUX variant can utilize 140 kW fast charging. Both variants can charge their batteries up to 80% in as little as 37 and 26 minutes, respectively, using fast charging.
The MG4 EV supports both slow and fast charging options for added convenience.
Lastly, the MG4 EV includes a V2L function, allowing it to supply power to external devices with a 2.2 kW output. This feature is handy for outdoor activities like camping and picnics, where electricity is needed for various equipment.
The MG4 EV is available in 6 colors in Vietnam, and its battery is covered by a 7-year warranty. MG is currently offering free charging at public stations for the first 12 months of ownership.
