According to Carscoops, Mazda has confirmed the official unveiling of the Mazda CX-80 this month. Positioned as the three-row version of the Mazda CX-60, this large SUV will be exclusively offered to customers in Europe and Japan, with an official launch date set for April 18.

While the Mazda CX-70 and CX-90 differ primarily in their third-row seating, the CX-80 is expected to showcase more significant changes compared to the CX-60. Sources at Carscoops suggest that the CX-80 will likely feature a longer and more upright rear end, along with a redesigned cabin.

A video released by Mazda offers a glimpse of the CX-80’s rear window, framed by prominent chrome trim. The distance between the rear end and the second-row doors has also been noticeably extended. The mirrors on the CX-80 appear less inclined than those on its smaller sibling, while the taillights share a similar design.

Mazda confirms that the CX-80 will be longer and taller than the CX-60, with an overall length of approximately 5,000 mm and a wheelbase of around 3,000 mm.

Depending on the variant, this large SUV will offer a six- or seven-seat configuration. The CX-80 also introduces the option of two captain’s chairs in the second row, along with an integrated infotainment screen in the center console. Additionally, the third-row seats can be folded flat to maximize cargo space.

Sharing the same platform as the CX-60, CX-70, and CX-90, the CX-80 is showcased in a video by Mazda with two fuel/energy filler doors on either side, indicating a plug-in hybrid variant.

Given that the CX-90 has been specifically designed for the North American market, the narrower CX-80 will cater to European and Japanese customers. However, markets such as Australia may see the introduction of all four SUVs, including the CX-60, CX-70, CX-80, and CX-90.

Mazda will start taking orders for the CX-80 when it is unveiled on April 18, with the first deliveries expected to reach European dealerships in the autumn. Pricing details remain undisclosed at this point.
