Koenigsegg is a relatively young supercar manufacturer, but that hasn’t stopped it from holding its own against the big players in the industry. Proof of this lies in the fact that the cars produced by the company founded by Christian von Koenigsegg have been consistently sought-after by enthusiasts and collectors, with some owning multiple models despite the steep price tags and lengthy waiting periods of up to four years for delivery.
In Vietnam, there are currently two Koenigsegg supercars that have been brought into the country through different import channels. One of them is a Regera owned by a prominent businessman, Hoà ng Kim Khánh, which was registered in Cambodia and then brought into Vietnam via a land border crossing. The other is a CCX model that was more discreetly imported by a businessman from Haiphong, but unfortunately, this car has not been seen on the roads in the four years since its arrival.
Recently, images of this million-dollar supercar have resurfaced on social media, marking the first time it has been seen since last year when it was spotted in a garage with a motorbike bearing a Tay Ninh province license plate. Interestingly, the car is still believed to be located somewhere in Ho Chi Minh City, as the garage in the new images appears identical to the one from the previous sighting. However, the car has yet to be registered, as indicated by the absence of inspection and road tax stickers, which is a bit of a shame for such a remarkable vehicle.
The Koenigsegg CCX is an extremely rare car, with only 30 units ever produced worldwide, and several of those no longer in their original condition. So, the presence of one of these cars in Vietnam is certainly a surprising development.
Under the hood, the Koenigsegg CCX boasts a 4.7-liter supercharged V8 engine that delivers an impressive 800 horsepower. This powerplant is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, propelling the car from 0 to 100 km/h in under three seconds and on to a top speed of 402 km/h.
The red Koenigsegg CCX owned by the Haiphong businessman was purchased from Al Ain Class Motors, a dealership that may sound familiar as it is the same place where other notable Vietnamese car enthusiasts, such as Minh “Nhá»±a” and Hoà ng Kim Khánh, have acquired some of their exotic cars, including a Pagani Huayra and a McLaren Senna.
One of the distinctive features of Koenigsegg supercars is their scissor doors, which open by sliding forward and outward, rather than pivoting upward like those on the Lamborghini Murcielago or Aventador. Another surprising detail is that most Koenigsegg models, including the CCX, are convertible-coupe hybrids, with removable roof panels that can be stored in the front trunk by hand.
The Haiphong businessman’s Koenigsegg CCX features a striking red exterior with carbon fiber accents, silver wheels with yellow carbon fiber center locks, and a removable roof. The interior of the car is just as impressive, with a combination of red and black leather and carbon fiber trim, creating a sleek and sporty ambiance.
The Koenigsegg CCX was produced from 2006 to 2010, with a total production run of 49 units. This included 30 standard CCX models, 9 CCXR models, 6 CCX/CCXR Edition models, 2 CCXR Special Edition models, and the final pair of CCXR Trevita editions.
Stepping inside the Koenigsegg CCX reveals a striking interior that continues the red and black theme from the exterior, along with ample use of carbon fiber. The center console and dashboard are adorned with carbon fiber trim, adding to the car’s sporty character. However, the infotainment system appears to be a bit basic, similar to what was offered in the Bugatti Veyron.
