A diverse and comprehensive range of products, including gasoline (ICE), Plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), are being distributed. This is also a differentiating factor compared to other automobile brands in the Vietnamese market.
Omoda & Jaecoo are two new automobile brands launched in 2023 under the Chery Automobile Group – one of China’s largest automobile manufacturers. Established in 1997, Chery is headquartered in Wuhu, Anhui Province, China. For 21 years, Chery has consistently been China’s top automobile exporter. Before entering Vietnam, Chery was already present in other Southeast Asian markets such as Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
Omoda & Jaecoo are automobile brands targeting the younger generation, with quality standards positioned for export beyond the Chinese domestic market. Omoda emphasizes personalization, fashion, and technology, while Jaecoo aims at a more premium segment.
The first models to enter the Vietnamese market from Omoda and Jaecoo will be the 5-seat Crossover Omoda C5 and the C-size SUV Jaecoo J7. The brands announced that these models will be officially launched in Vietnam in August this year.

Chery has been exploring the Vietnamese market very early on, but due to the Covid pandemic in 2021, and up to now, Omoda & Jaecoo-branded cars have not officially reached consumers, lagging behind many other Chinese car brands such as Wuling, Haval, Lynk&Co, and Haima…
Regarding the Chery – Geleximco joint venture, on April 4, 2024, the Omoda & Jaecoo brands signed a contract for a joint venture and cooperation in building an automobile factory with the Geleximco Group. As announced at the signing ceremony, the Omoda & Jaecoo factory will be located in Thai Binh province and specialized in producing new energy vehicles (NEVs). NEV is a general term for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV), Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV).
The Omoda & Jaecoo factory in Vietnam will have an estimated capacity of 200,000 vehicles per year. The construction process will be divided into three phases, with a total estimated investment of over $800 million. The factory will be inaugurated in the third quarter of this year and is expected to complete the first phase in the first quarter of 2026. Before the factory becomes operational, the Omoda & Jaecoo brands will import cars from Indonesia for distribution in Vietnam.
