“Chevrolet Trailblazer Review: Spacious 7-Seater SUV That’s a Bargain Buy, Outshining the Fortuner with Its Powerful Engine”

The Chevrolet Trailblazer is no longer distributed in Vietnam, but that doesn't make it any less desirable. With a price tag of just under 500 million VND on the used car market, it's a steal of a deal and one of the most affordable options out there.

When it comes to mid-size SUVs, most consumers tend to gravitate towards two familiar options: the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Everest. Following these popular choices are the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the Isuzu MU-X, which trails in sales. However, in the used car market, the Chevrolet Trailblazer has been gaining attention for its accessibility and competitive pricing.

We had the opportunity to meet Mr. Dong, a Chevrolet Trailblazer owner from Hanoi, to discuss his experience with this 7-seater vehicle.

Mr. Dong, a 45-year-old resident of Hanoi, purchased his Chevrolet Trailblazer almost a year ago for over 500 million VND. The car has already traveled over 50,000 km.

Hello Mr. Dong! Why did you choose the Chevrolet Trailblazer over other vehicles?

Hello readers! I’m Dong, 45 years old, and I’m based in Hanoi. I’ve owned this car for almost a year now, having purchased it for over 500 million VND, and it has already clocked over 50,000 km.

My work requires me to travel frequently, so I needed a large and spacious vehicle with a durable and fuel-efficient diesel engine. Many of my friends own this model, and after test-driving it, I found it quite appealing. The Trailblazer offers stability, sturdiness, and impressive fuel economy without any minor issues.

In terms of fuel efficiency, the Isuzu MU-X is also a rather economical choice, and it’s even more affordable. What are your thoughts on that?

While it’s true that each car manufacturer has its unique engine technology, I’ve had the opportunity to experience various models, and when I test-drove the Trailblazer, I instantly liked its driving feel.

Can you describe the “driving feel” of the Chevrolet Trailblazer?

I found the steering to be precise, and the car feels very stable when cornering and navigating winding roads. Despite being an older model, the engine still packs a punch.

Do you choose cars based on recommendations from friends or your personal criteria?

As I mentioned earlier, I consider my friends’ experiences as a valuable source of information. However, I always make sure to test-drive the car myself before making a final decision. When it comes to buying used cars, I have a set of basic criteria: a high-riding 7-seater with ample space, reasonable maintenance and running costs, a trusted brand, and proven reliability, which has been attested to by numerous users.

Are there any aspects of the Chevrolet Trailblazer that you don’t particularly like?

Being an older diesel engine, there is some characteristic noise that permeates into the cabin. I’ve come to accept this as a trade-off. Regarding fuel, I’ve been using a mix of 0.001 diesel and regular diesel without any issues or complications. This isn’t as critical as some people make it out to be.

Since Chevrolet no longer has an official presence in Vietnam, I take my car to external workshops for maintenance and repairs.

Do you have a favorite car brand?

Having experienced various models, I’ve come to appreciate Japanese cars for their reliability. For example, the Toyota Fortuner and Innova are excellent choices. However, the Innova has a thinner body, and at high speeds, it doesn’t feel as stable as the Trailblazer.

Given your appreciation for Japanese cars, what are your thoughts on the Toyota Fortuner, a direct competitor to the Trailblazer from Japan? Why didn’t you choose that model?

The Fortuner certainly delivers a comparable driving experience to the Trailblazer, but the Trailblazer has that distinct American car trait of offering a spacious interior. Seven adults can sit comfortably, and the Trailblazer’s pricing is far more attractive.
