A-Segment SUV Sales Table for May 2024 (units: vehicles)

Toyota Raize: 433 units

May 2024 witnessed a strong performance by the Toyota Raize, achieving a sales figure of 433 units, representing a 46.7% increase compared to the previous month. Consequently, the Toyota Raize overtook the Kia Sonet to become the best-selling model in the A-segment SUV category.

Toyota Raize

Toyota Raize

The Toyota Raize is currently the most affordable SUV in its class, with a price tag of VND 498 million. However, it only offers a single variant, limiting the choices available to customers. Aside from its competitive pricing, the Japanese SUV boasts a reputable brand, a compact and robust design, and a comprehensive list of features for its segment.

The Raize is equipped with full LED lighting, 17-inch alloy wheels, a steering wheel with paddle shifters, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch central touchscreen, push-button start, automatic climate control, Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA). It also comes with four front and rear sensors and six airbags for added safety.

Under the hood, the Toyota Raize is powered by a turbocharged 1.0-liter gasoline engine that delivers 98 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (D-CVT).

Kia Sonet: 366 units

The Kia Sonet was the only A-segment SUV to experience a decline in sales during May 2024, with a total of 366 units sold, representing a 34.9% decrease compared to the previous month.

May 2024 coincided with the launch of the new Kia Sonet, which could have contributed to the drop in sales for the previous model.

On June 15, 2024, the updated Kia Sonet was officially introduced in Vietnam, featuring enhanced design and equipment. It is offered in three variants: 1.5 Deluxe, 1.5 Luxury, and 1.5 Premium, with prices ranging from VND 539 million to VND 624 million. However, for the month of June 2024, customers can take advantage of promotional prices starting from VND 534 million to VND 619 million.

The Kia Sonet stands out with its youthful and distinctive styling, thanks to Kia’s Opposites United design language. It offers a host of notable features, including LED lighting, 16-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable driver’s seat, rear air vents, two Type-C USB ports, and a center armrest with cup holders for the rear passengers.

Additionally, it boasts a 4.2-inch TFT LCD multi-information display in the instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch central touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, built-in navigation, a sunroof, a six-speaker audio system, cruise control, and a Manual Speed Limit Assist system.

Under the hood, the Kia Sonet retains its 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, producing 113 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission with an 8-step shift simulation.

Hyundai Venue: 295 units

Similar to the Toyota Raize, the Hyundai Venue enjoyed a successful month with an 8.9% growth in sales, reaching 295 units. However, when compared to its rivals, the Venue’s sales figures are still lower, placing it at the bottom of the A-segment SUV rankings.

Hyundai Venue

Hyundai Venue

As of June 18, 2024, Hyundai has reduced the Venue’s price by VND 40 million for the 1.0 Turbo and 1.0 Turbo Special variants. The new retail prices are VND 499 million for the 1.0 Turbo and VND 539 million for the 1.0 Turbo Special. The new pricing, along with the expected implementation of a 50% reduction in registration fees for domestically produced and assembled vehicles starting July 2024, is anticipated to boost the Venue’s sales performance.

The Hyundai Venue shares design similarities with its cousin, the Kia Sonet, and offers a compelling package with its attractive design and decent equipment levels. It comes with LED lighting, 16-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a Type-C USB port, a six-speaker audio system, push-button start, smart key, automatic climate control with rear vents, six airbags, a rearview camera, and rear parking sensors.

One of the Venue’s standout features is its engine. It is powered by a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that generates an impressive 120 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque. This engine is coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and front-wheel drive.
