According to Carscoops, the allure of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (known as the Toyota Land Cruiser in the US market) has made it a lucrative opportunity for dealerships upon its return to the North American market. The website reports that several Toyota dealerships in the US are adding significant markups to the SUV’s price, resulting in customers paying almost 100,000 USD to get their hands on this vehicle.
At Maita Toyota in Sacramento, California, two 2024 Land Cruiser First Edition models are listed at 91,295 USD and 91,645 USD, respectively. Carscoops notes that this translates to a 14,950 USD markup per vehicle compared to the manufacturer’s suggested retail price.
Similarly, Magnussen, a dealership in Palo Alto, California, is advertising two Land Cruiser First Edition SUVs with prices of 93,304 USD and 92,473 USD, despite their respective MSRPs of 77,305 USD and 77,474 USD.
Future Toyota in Yuba City, California, takes it a step further, offering two First Edition Land Cruisers in Heritage Blue and Grayscape colors at a staggering 19,995 USD over the MSRP. Customers interested in these vehicles will have to shell out 96,690 USD each, while the manufacturer’s suggested price stands at 76,695 USD.
As reported by Carscoops, Thompsons Toyota in Placerville, California, is asking customers to pay an additional 20,000 USD on top of the MSRP for the 2024 Land Cruiser. This brings the total cost of the vehicle to 97,043 USD after adding accessories and other related charges. Interestingly, the dealership proudly proclaims on its website that “Nobody beats our prices!”

However, it’s not just Toyota or this particular model that is facing dealership markups. Most dealerships across the US are adding substantial amounts to the final price of vehicles, affecting a range of models from the Dodge Challengers and Ford Mustang to even the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.
