The latest reports from Japan suggest that the new Honda Prelude will be unveiled as a 2-door coupe with 4 seats, and will continue to use a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout, just like its predecessor, which was first introduced in 1978.

The Honda Prelude measures 4,300 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width, and 1,300 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,575 mm. In terms of size, the Honda Prelude is comparable to two other Japanese sports sedans, the Honda GR 86 and the Subaru BR-Z.

According to BestCarWeb, Honda will equip the Prelude with the e-HEV 2.0L hybrid engine that produces 207 horsepower, the same configuration found in the Civic and Accord sedans. When compared to the Subaru BR-Z and Toyota GR 86, the Honda Prelude seems to be at a slight disadvantage in terms of power.

Rumored pricing for the Honda Prelude is said to be between 4.2 and 4.5 million yen, which is approximately $27,300 to $29,400 USD. This price range is a few thousand dollars more expensive than the Subaru BR-Z.

Honda surprised everyone when they unveiled the Prelude concept at the Japan Mobility Show last year. This marked the return of the legendary Prelude nameplate, which was previously produced from 1978 to 2001.
