Ford has recently increased the listed price of the Explorer in Vietnam to 2.099 billion VND, an increase of 100 million VND compared to the price at the beginning of March, as seen on their website.

A sales representative from a Ford dealership in Ho Chi Minh City confirmed with Tri Thức – Znews that the selling price of the Ford Explorer has been adjusted to 2.099 billion VND, effective from the beginning of May.

“The price of 2.099 billion VND applies to Ford Explorer vehicles produced in 2023. The previous discount of 400 million VND offered in early March has almost cleared out the inventory of 2022 models,” the representative shared.

However, for the very limited number of 2022 Ford Explorers still available, customers can still purchase them at the previous price of 1.999 billion VND. Currently, only the white exterior color option is available for the 2022 models at dealerships, and even then, in very limited quantities.

Previously, in early March, Ford had reduced the listed price of the Explorer by 400 million VND, bringing the price down to 1.999 billion VND. This program applied to vehicles produced in 2022 and was seen as an inventory clearance move by the American automaker.

At the moment, the selling price of 2.099 billion VND for the Ford Explorer is still lower than that of the Volkswagen Teramont (2.499 billion VND) and the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (2.628 billion VND). However, it is now higher than the Volkswagen Teramont X (starting at 1.998 billion VND), the Hyundai Palisade (from 1.469 billion VND), and the electric VinFast VF 9, which offers a battery leasing option starting at 1.491 billion VND.

In the first three months of the year, Ford Explorer sales in Vietnam reached 203 units, averaging just under 68 units per month. The Explorer’s sales currently make up a small portion of Ford’s overall passenger car sales in the country.

Currently, the Hyundai Palisade is the best-selling model in this segment, with 241 units sold since the beginning of the year. VinFast VF 9 and Volkswagen Teramont sales figures are not publicly available, while the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has yet to record any sales in the first quarter of the year in Vietnam.

Vietnamese customers who purchase the Ford Explorer will have the option of the Limited edition. This large SUV is equipped with a 2.3L EcoBoost gasoline engine that produces a maximum output of 301 horsepower and a peak torque of 431.5 Nm. The engine’s power is transmitted to all four wheels of the Explorer through a 10-speed automatic transmission.
