Speculation about the MG7 model’s official launch in Vietnam has been rife since the beginning of 2023. It’s only now that SAIC Vietnam, the authorized distributor of MG vehicles, has confirmed this information.
According to SAIC Vietnam, the MG7 will be introduced to the domestic market in 2024. However, the exact launch date has not been announced.
MG7 is confirmed to be launched in Vietnam this year, competing with Toyota Camry.
It was only in early May 2024 that dealerships in Vietnam started accepting reservations for this mid-size sedan. At that time, sales consultants at the dealerships mentioned that the MG7 would be officially released in Vietnam in July this year.
Specific information about the MG7’s features and specifications for the Vietnamese market is not yet available. Meanwhile, in China, the car is offered with quite a comprehensive range of equipment.
The MG7, which was launched in China in 2022, will compete in the D-segment sedan category in Vietnam, going up against the likes of the Toyota Camry, Kia K5, and Mazda6.
The MG7 has dimensions of 4,884 mm in length, 1,889 mm in width, 1,447 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,778 mm. Compared to other sedans in the D-segment, this Chinese car has a significantly shorter wheelbase.
MG7 is a newcomer to the D-segment sedan market in Vietnam.
The MG7’s exterior design stands out with its youthful and sporty aesthetic, featuring complex lines and creases. Additionally, the fastback design style adds a sleek touch, reminiscent of luxury cars like the Audi A7 Sportback.

In the Chinese market, the MG7 boasts notable features such as LED lighting all around, 19-inch alloy wheels, sporty brake calipers, four exhaust tips, an active rear spoiler, sports seats upholstered in Dinamica suede or leather, a flat-bottom steering wheel, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster seamlessly connected to a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, a head-up display with augmented reality technology, a Bose sound system with 14 speakers, a panoramic sunroof, and a memory function for parking positions.

On the safety front, it’s equipped with a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, lane change assist, intelligent driving assistance with Navigation Guided Pilot, and remote-controlled parking, among other features.
The MG7 in China is offered with two gasoline engine options. The first is a 1.5L engine producing 180 horsepower, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The second is a 2.0L turbocharged engine generating 262 horsepower, mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
The pricing for the MG7 in Vietnam has not been disclosed yet, but it is expected to start at over 700 million VND. If this price point is accurate, the MG7 will become one of the most affordable D-segment sedans in the country.
With the introduction of the MG7, the MG brand will have a total of seven models on offer in Vietnam, including the MG5, New MG5, RX5, ZS, HS, and MG4 EV. The MG7 will be imported from China, similar to the New MG5, RX5, and MG4 EV. In contrast, the MG ZS, MG5, and HS are all imported from Thailand.
