After months of teasing, Hyundai has finally unveiled its smallest and most affordable electric SUV, the Inster. In its home market of South Korea, the Hyundai Inster is known by the unique name of Casper EV.
Introducing the all-new Hyundai Inster 2025 – a fully electric compact SUV.
The Hyundai Inster is developed based on the platform of the Casper SUV, currently sold in South Korea. However, unlike the Hyundai Casper, which is exclusive to the Korean market, this electric vehicle will be available in multiple markets globally, including Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region.
The Hyundai Inster 2025 is an electric SUV designed for the global market.
The Inster boasts dimensions of 3,825 mm in length, 1,610 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,580 mm. Compared to its larger sibling, the Hyundai Casper, the Inster is 230 mm longer, 15 mm wider, and has a wheelbase that is 180 mm longer. With these dimensions, the Hyundai Inster is positioned between the compact SUV and subcompact SUV segments.
The Hyundai Inster 2025 is larger than the Venue but smaller than the Kona.
On the outside, the Inster shares a similar overall design with the Casper, but Hyundai has made some adjustments to its exterior details. The electric SUV features a closed grille and center air intake, 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels, and silver trim on the front and rear bumpers. Additionally, the turn signals are integrated into the headlights and taillights, creating a pixelated design.

The interior of the Hyundai Inster offers more spacious accommodations than the Casper, thanks to its larger dimensions. The interior design is almost identical to the Casper, while the technology and seat upholstery have been updated.
All seats inside the Inster can be folded flat, similar to the Casper. The rear seats can also slide and recline. The cargo capacity of this electric SUV is impressive, offering a standard volume of 280 liters, an increase of 47 liters compared to the Hyundai Casper, or 351 liters with the rear seats folded.

Additionally, the electric SUV comes with an electronic shift lever mounted on the steering column and Digital Key 2 technology. The steering wheel is integrated with interactive pixelated lights, which are activated when using voice control functions or indicating the vehicle’s charging status.

The Hyundai Inster also boasts advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), including highway driving assist, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control based on navigation data.
In the South Korean market, the Hyundai Inster offers two powertrain options: Standard and Long Range. The Standard model is equipped with a single electric motor producing 95 horsepower and 147 Nm of torque, paired with a 42 kWh battery that delivers a range of over 300 kilometers on a single charge.
The Long Range version, on the other hand, features a more powerful electric motor generating 113 horsepower. It also comes with a larger 49 kWh NMC battery, resulting in an impressive range of 315 kilometers.

Furthermore, the Inster supports fast DC charging up to 120 kW, allowing for a quick charging time of just 30 minutes to go from 10% to 80% battery capacity. Using a slower AC charger at 11 kW, the Standard model takes four hours to fully charge, while the Long Range model takes four hours and 35 minutes.
The Inster also incorporates V2L (Vehicle to Load) technology, enabling two-way charging for devices like electric bicycles or camping equipment. Additionally, it features a one-pedal driving mode, i-Pedal, for added convenience.
Hyundai plans to launch the Inster in South Korea this summer, followed by a rollout in other global markets. Pricing details for this exciting electric SUV have not yet been announced.
