The Neta S, a sleek sedan unveiled in 2021, catches the eye with its striking design. The front doors even open butterfly-style, akin to supercars. This Chinese automobile has impressive dimensions: 4,980 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, 1,450 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,980 mm, positioning it in the mid-to-full-size sedan segment.
But Neta isn’t stopping there. Recently, images of the Neta S Wagon emerged, showing the vehicle on the streets of China. This NEV is set to enter the Chinese market in August, with a starting price of 150,000 Chinese yuan (approximately $20,600 or VND 488 million).
Deliveries are planned for September this year. The Neta S Wagon, built on the Shanhai 2.0 platform, boasts an impressive 496 horsepower.
The Neta S Sedan
Also known as the Neta S Hunting Edition, the wagon version maintains the sleek exterior design language of its sedan counterpart. The front features thin LED lights that resemble a cat’s whiskers, with the headlights positioned in the front bumper alongside a large, trapezoidal air intake. On the roof, a LiDAR sensor adds a high-tech touch—a first for Neta vehicles.
Both spotted Neta S Wagons sported 19-inch wheels with Giti tires, although a 20-inch wheel option with Michelin tires is also available. As a variation on the sedan theme, the S Wagon employs retractable door handles to reduce drag. Overall, the wagon’s design echoes that of the S sedan up to the C-pillar.
The Neta S Wagon Hunting Edition boasts a smoother roofline that merges with the D-pillar, creating a distinctive silhouette reminiscent of a fastback. It also sports a large roof spoiler, a unique rear wiper, and a distinctive rear bumper. However, the wagon retains the same taillight design as its sedan sibling.
Inside, the Neta S Wagon mirrors the sedan’s interior. It features the same screen layout, including a massive 17.6-inch vertical main screen, a 12.3-inch front passenger screen, and a 13.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
Additionally, the wagon includes an AR-HUD behind the steering wheel. The D-shaped steering wheel has a shifter mounted behind it. Interestingly, the S Hunting Edition introduces a new center tunnel design without glossy black plastic. The material quality has also been enhanced.
The Neta S Wagon is said to be based on the Shanhai 2.0 platform, the next-generation architecture also underpinning the Neta L Crossover and Neta S sedan. However, in terms of raw numbers, the Hunting Edition remains very close to the sedan. Its dimensions are 4,980 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, 1,480 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,980 mm, only 30 mm taller than the sedan.
The all-electric variant of the Neta S Wagon offers two powertrain options. The first utilizes a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 200 kW (268 hp). There’s also a 4WD version with a combined output of 370 kW (496 hp).
The Neta S Wagon EREV features a single rear electric motor producing 200 hp, paired with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine generating 95 hp that serves as a generator. Two battery options are available: 31.7 kWh and 43.9 kWh. According to China’s CLTC test cycle, the Neta S Wagon EREV can travel up to 185 km on pure electric power.
The Neta S Wagon will be launched in the Chinese market in August, with a starting price of approximately $20,600. The top-of-the-line Neta S Hunting Edition is expected to cost up to $34,400. Deliveries of the Neta S Wagon will commence in September, initially focusing on the domestic market. However, Neta has expressed serious intentions to export this model.
Hozon Auto, which introduced Neta as an affordable NEV brand in 2018, is now shifting towards the premium segment, offering more upscale and expensive models. Their current lineup includes five vehicles: the Aya, X, S, GT, and L, with the Neta S Wagon being the newest addition to the family.
