The British luxury car manufacturer is focusing its efforts on its electrified lineup, so the arrival of a 100% gasoline-powered Bentley in Vietnam has sparked excitement among car enthusiasts, especially as it’s the first convertible of its kind in the country.
Images shared online reveal a Bentley Continental GTC S V8, with a unique twist. The car’s dual exhaust tips have been removed, possibly to facilitate emissions testing. The wheels provide a hint as to the car’s identity—a special edition named the “Vietnam Skyline Edition,” designed specifically for the Vietnamese market.
The Vietnam Skyline Edition project has been two years in the making. The first year was spent planning by the local dealer with Bentley’s Mulliner personalization department in the UK, choosing unique colors and interior options. The second year saw the car’s production and delivery to Vietnam. The one-of-a-kind car was scheduled to arrive in the country in the first quarter of 2024, but it landed in the second quarter instead.
The exterior of the Vietnam Skyline Edition is painted in Onyx Black, complemented by 21-inch, 5-spoke wheels with a two-tone silver and black finish and red-painted brake calipers. The car also features the Mulliner package, which adds unique touches to the front bumper, sides, and rear bumper.
The interior of the Vietnam Skyline Edition takes center stage, with the skilled artisans at Mulliner embroidering the skylines of Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City on the backrests of the seats. Iconic landmarks, such as the Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam, Hanoi Opera House, Dragon Bridge, Bitexco, Landmark 81, and Vietcombank buildings, are also subtly incorporated into the design.
Adding to the exclusivity are the words “Skyline Collection” etched on the glass in front of the passenger seat and “Vietnam Collection” illuminated on the door sill, confirming that this is the one-and-only Bentley Continental GTC S V8 Vietnam Skyline Edition.
The rest of the interior remains unchanged, featuring contrast-stitched diamond-patterned seats, a rotating 3D display, a Naim for Bentley audio system, and an ambient lighting system that allows the driver to customize the cabin’s atmosphere.
Powering this unique convertible is a V8 engine that produces 542 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds and reach a top speed of 318 km/h. Unlike previous Bentley Continental GT S V8 models in Vietnam, this one-off edition features a convertible top that can be easily operated with the push of a button from within the cockpit, taking only 14 seconds to open or close.
