In July 2024, Subaru is offering an exciting deal on its best-selling Forester model. This month, the popular Subaru SUV will be offered with a registration fee discount.

Specifically, the Subaru Forester 2.0 iL and 2.0 iL EyeSight models are offered with a partial registration fee discount, totaling VND 50 million and VND 110 million, respectively. The 2.0 iS EyeSight model takes it a notch higher with a 100% registration fee support, amounting to a substantial VND 140 million.

This promotional offer from Subaru runs from now until July 31, 2024. The registration fee discount will be based on 10% of the listed price. It’s important to note that this offer is applicable for 2024 production year Subaru Foresters (VIN 2024).

July 2024 promotion for the Subaru Forester.

After clearing out the 2023 VIN Forester inventory, Subaru has gradually reduced the incentives for this C-segment SUV. In previous months, the Forester was offered with discounts of up to VND 250 million.

The Subaru Forester isn’t the only C-segment SUV on offer this July. Honda is also offering registration fee support for the CR-V, ranging from 50% to 100% depending on the version. The highest incentive for the Honda SUV reaches VND 111 million.

Meanwhile, other C-segment SUVs like the Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, and Ford Territory don’t have similar manufacturer-backed promotions. This isn’t surprising, as these three models already offer attractive listed prices within the segment.

The Subaru Forester is currently priced between VND 969 million and VND 1.199 billion. As an imported model from Thailand, it doesn’t qualify for the government’s upcoming registration fee incentive expected to take effect in August 2024.

Aside from the price disadvantage, the Subaru Forester’s design may not appeal to all Vietnamese consumers. Additionally, the limited number of authorized Subaru dealerships in Vietnam can be inconvenient for potential customers.

The Subaru Forester was first introduced in the Vietnamese market in 2018 as a fully imported model from Japan. In 2019, it transitioned to being imported from Thailand to take advantage of the 0% import tax and reduce its selling price.

However, starting in 2025, the Forester, along with other Subaru models in Vietnam, will be imported directly from Japan. This change is due to the upcoming closure of Subaru’s Thai factory on December 30, 2024, which will impact the pricing of Subaru vehicles in Vietnam as they will be subject to import taxes ranging from 50% to 70%.
