Several car manufacturers and dealerships offered attractive promotions, with discounts of up to hundreds of millions of VND, for certain car models in June 2024. However, not all models with great deals saw a boost in sales. The list of the 10 worst-selling cars in Vietnam in June 2024 proves this point.

The 10 worst-selling car models in Vietnam in June 2024.

Compared to May 2024, the top 10 worst-selling car models in the market in June saw some changes. Notably, the disappearance of the Suzuki Ciaz stands out. The reason for the exclusion of this model from the list is not due to improved sales but because the Suzuki Ciaz has been discontinued in the Vietnamese market since May 2024.

Returning to the top 10, the worst-selling car model in the Vietnamese market in June 2024 was the Honda Accord, with only 8 units sold. Compared to May 2024, sales of this model increased by 100%. Despite the continuous cash incentives of up to 220 million VND offered by the manufacturer in recent months, the Honda Accord has not been able to escape the list of slow-selling cars.

Similarly, the Toyota Alphard, a luxury MPV priced at over one billion VND, sold only 8 units in June, a decrease of 57.8%. The presence of the Toyota Alphard in this list is not surprising given its high price tag of 4.37 billion VND, which makes it unaffordable for the majority of Vietnamese customers.

Following closely behind the Toyota Alphard is the Suzuki Swift, with a sales figure of just 9 units, a decrease of 57.1%. This is not the first time a Suzuki model has made it to the top 10 worst-selling cars in the market. If sales continue at this rate, coupled with the planned closure of the Suzuki factory in Thailand after 2025, the Swift may face discontinuation in Vietnam, similar to its siblings, the Ciaz and the Ertiga Hybrid.

The next position belongs to the Toyota Corolla Altis, which sold only 15 units. Compared to the previous month, sales of this C-segment sedan decreased by 57.1%. With these results, the Toyota Corolla Altis is likely to remain at the bottom of the sales chart in its segment.

Isuzu mu-X sold slightly better than the Toyota Corolla Altis, with a total of 18 units sold in June 2024, representing a 50% growth rate. Despite this growth, the Isuzu mu-X’s sales performance is still modest, keeping it in the list of the 10 worst-selling cars in the market.

Next are the Mazda6 and Kia K5, both recording sales of 21 units. While the Kia K5 experienced a slight increase of 5%, the Mazda6 saw a significant decline of 73%. Thus, out of the four models in the D-segment sedan market in Vietnam, three have made it to this top 10 list, excluding the Toyota Camry. These results indicate a shift in preferences as Vietnamese customers are gradually losing interest in D-segment sedans.

Ranking behind the aforementioned sedan duo is the Suzuki XL7, with sales of 28 units, an increase of 86.6%. This is the second consecutive month that the Suzuki XL7 has been included in the top 10 worst-selling cars in the market. The reason for the significant decline in sales of the Suzuki XL7 is that the model is awaiting the launch of its new version in Vietnam. The upcoming model will be equipped with a mild hybrid engine. Local dealerships have already started taking orders for the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid.

Similar to the mu-X, the Isuzu D-Max is also one of the worst-selling car models in the market in June 2024. This pickup truck managed to convince only 31 customers, a decrease of 6%.

Lastly, the Kia Soluto sold 45 units, an increase of 80%. In the previous months, this B-segment sedan has consistently been among the 10 worst-selling cars in the market. It appears that even the most affordable price tag in its segment could not make the Kia Soluto a favorite choice for Vietnamese consumers.

Overall, the list of the 10 worst-selling cars in Vietnam in June 2024 did not differ significantly from the previous month, with familiar names such as the Honda Accord, Isuzu mu-X, Toyota Alphard, Kia K5, Suzuki Swift, and Kia Soluto still dominating the chart.
