After being introduced at the Osaka Motorcycle Show 2022 about half a year ago as a concept product, the Shoei Opticson helmet is now officially on sale in Japan.

At first glance, the Shoei Opticson doesn’t look any different from the full-face helmets already on the market. However, its uniqueness lies in what’s behind the visor. Shoei has equipped the helmet with a small projector located in the lower section, projecting information onto a small display positioned above it. This technology is similar to the heads-up display (HUD) technology used in automobiles.

The information displayed on the visor is transmitted from a smartphone via Bluetooth connection. This feature is especially useful for navigation, as it helps reduce driver distraction – a common cause of accidents.

Currently, the Shoei Opticson is only available in Japan, the home country of the Shoei brand. The price to own this technologically advanced helmet is $991. Shoei has stated that they do not currently have plans to distribute this helmet model outside of Japan.

In Vietnam, the Shoei brand is not yet officially distributed. Those interested in purchasing Shoei helmets often turn to private stores or online shopping on electronic sales pages. Shoei’s price point is less accessible than common helmet brands, and it is positioned similarly to Arai and some mid-range and high-end AGV products.
