C-segment SUV Sales Table for June 2024 (units: cars)

Mazda CX-5: 1,259 units sold

The Mazda CX-5 witnessed the highest growth rate in the C-segment SUV market last June, with sales of 1,259 units, reflecting a remarkable 41.1% increase compared to the previous month. This performance solidifies its position as the “king” of the segment, outpacing its competitors.

Mazda CX-5

In the first six months of the year, Vietnamese consumers purchased a total of 5,270 Mazda CX-5 vehicles. Not only is it the best-selling model in its segment, but it has also made its way into the top 10 best-selling automobiles in the Vietnamese market during the first half of the year.

The Mazda CX-5 is currently offered in Vietnam with seven different versions, and its price ranges from 749 to 959 million VND. It is one of the most affordable C-segment SUVs in the country. With this competitive pricing, the Mazda CX-5 has become the go-to choice for customers seeking a C-segment SUV or even a high-riding vehicle in general.

Beyond its attractive price point, the Mazda CX-5 is also favored for its design that caters to local tastes, as well as its comprehensive convenience and safety features. In Vietnam, the model offers two gasoline engine options with displacements of 2.0L and 2.5L. Depending on the version, the vehicle is equipped with either front-wheel drive or the 4-wheel drive AWD system.

Ford Territory: 748 units sold

Similar to the previous month, the Ford Territory maintained its second position in terms of sales volume within the C-segment SUV category. In June, this American model sold 748 units, marking a 38.5% increase. For the first six months of the year, the Ford Territory was also the second best-selling C-segment SUV in Vietnam, with cumulative sales of 2,949 vehicles.

Ford Territory

The Ford Territory is available in Vietnam in three different versions, with prices ranging from 799 to 929 million VND. In addition to its reasonable price, the model has captivated Vietnamese consumers with its robust exterior, eye-catching design, spacious interior, and impressive features.

Under the hood, the Ford Territory is powered by a 1.5L EcoBoost 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that delivers 160 horsepower and 248 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Hyundai Tucson: 554 units sold

Like its aforementioned competitors, the Hyundai Tucson experienced a successful June, with a 28.8% sales growth, resulting in 554 units sold. This performance secured its position as the third best-selling model in the segment. Moreover, this outcome boosted its year-to-date sales for the first six months of the year to 2,084 units. However, when considering the sales performance for the first half of 2024, the Hyundai Tucson ranked fourth in the segment.

Hyundai Tucson

The Hyundai Tucson is offered in Vietnam in four different versions, with prices ranging from 769 to 919 million VND. The price adjustment made in April 2024 has positively impacted the model’s sales performance.

The Hyundai Tucson is recognized for its bold design, spacious interior courtesy of its large wheelbase, and diverse engine options. It offers three different engine choices: the Smartstream 4-cylinder 2.0L gasoline engine, the Smartstream 4-cylinder 2.0L diesel engine, and the turbocharged 4-cylinder 1.6L gasoline engine. These engines produce maximum power outputs ranging from 156 to 180 horsepower and maximum torque ranging from 192 to 416 Nm.

The Hyundai Tucson’s engines are mated to either a 6-speed automatic transmission, an 8-speed automatic transmission, or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Depending on the version, the model is equipped with either front-wheel drive or the HTRAC 4-wheel drive system.

Honda CR-V: 315 units sold

The Honda CR-V was the only model in the C-segment SUV category to experience a decline in sales during June 2024, with 315 units sold, representing a slight decrease of 0.6%. Of these, 195 units were gasoline-powered, while 120 units were hybrid variants. Despite this, the Honda CR-V maintained its position as the second best-selling hybrid model in Vietnam, surpassed only by the Innova Cross.

Honda CR-V

In the first half of the year, the Honda CR-V achieved cumulative sales of 2,338 units, ranking third in the segment. Among these, 535 units were hybrid variants.

This July, Honda is offering attractive incentives for the CR-V, including a 100% registration fee waiver for the G version and a 50% waiver for the L 2WD version. These incentives translate to a value of 111 million VND for the G version and 58 million VND for the L 2WD version. This program is expected to boost the model’s sales performance during the month.

The Honda CR-V boasts premium pricing, with a range of 1.109 to 1.31 billion VND, making it one of the most expensive models in the segment. However, it justifies its price tag with its sporty design and modern convenience and safety features.

Additionally, the Honda CR-V offers two distinct powertrain options. The first is a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that generates 188 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque, paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and either front-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive. The second option is a hybrid system that combines a 2.0L 4-cylinder gasoline engine producing 146 horsepower with two electric motors that collectively deliver 181 horsepower. The total system output is 204 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque.

Kia Sportage: 256 units sold

Following the Honda CR-V in terms of sales volume is the Kia Sportage, which sold 256 units in June, reflecting a growth rate of 31.2%. For the first six months of the year, the model achieved sales of 1,001 units, placing it fifth in the segment.

Kia Sportage

The Kia Sportage is currently offered in Vietnam with eight different versions, and its price ranges from 779 to 999 million VND. While its pricing is relatively competitive, the model has been criticized for its overly complex design, which may limit its appeal to certain customers. Additionally, when it was first introduced, the Kia Sportage was priced higher than its competitors, which impacted its sales performance.

Under the hood, the Kia Sportage shares the same three engine options as the Hyundai Tucson, as both models are produced by the Hyundai Motor Group.

Mitsubishi Outlander: 144 units sold

Once again, the Mitsubishi Outlander ranked last in the segment, despite a slight sales growth of 3.5%. This outcome is attributed to its modest sales figure of 144 units in June. Similarly, its year-to-date sales for the first six months stand at a modest 536 units.

Mitsubishi Outlander

This July, Mitsubishi is offering attractive promotions for the Outlander, including a 50% subsidy on the registration fee, equivalent to a value of 41 to 47 million VND. Additionally, customers who purchase the Outlander this month will receive a one-year physical damage insurance and a 360-degree camera as gifts.

The Mitsubishi Outlander is offered in only two versions, with prices starting from 825 to 950 million VND. Its less competitive pricing, coupled with the fact that it hasn’t received significant design or feature upgrades in a while, has contributed to its consistent low sales performance within the segment.

The Mitsubishi Outlander is equipped with a 2.0L MIVEC 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 145 horsepower and 196 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
