The Vietnamese auto market in June 2024 experienced growth compared to the previous month, positively impacting all car segments. This is evident in the B-segment sedans, as most models sold better in June than in May, except for the Mazda2.

Additionally, there was another change in the B-segment sedan market with the disappearance of the Suzuki Ciaz. Since May 2024, Suzuki has stopped importing the Ciaz to Vietnam, and dealers are selling the remaining stock.

Hyundai Accent: 968 units sold

In June, the Hyundai Accent continued its dominance in the B-segment sedan market, with sales of 968 units, a growth of 4.8% compared to the previous month. This achievement is attributed to the launch of the new-generation Accent at the end of May 2024. Additionally, in June, Hyundai Thanh Cong offered promotions for the previous-generation Accent to clear out inventory.

In the first six months of 2024, the Hyundai Accent achieved a total sales volume of 4,988 units, maintaining its leading position in the B-segment sedan market.

The new-generation Accent underwent a significant transformation in terms of design, equipment, and engine. Notable features of the 2024 Hyundai Accent include LED lighting from front to back, 16-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable and heated side mirrors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and seats, ventilated front seats, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch central touchscreen, a six-speaker audio system, automatic climate control, rear seat vents, and wireless phone charging.

The 2024 Hyundai Accent is offered in four trim levels, with prices ranging from 439 to 569 million VND.

Toyota Vios: 769 units sold

The Toyota Vios maintained its second position in the B-segment sedan market, with sales of 769 units in June, a slight growth of 0.39%. In the first six months of the year, the Vios accumulated sales of 4,215 units, securing its position as the runner-up to the Hyundai Accent.

Toyota Vios

The Vios received a price reduction in March 2024, with a new range of 458 to 545 million VND, which significantly improved its sales performance. Additionally, the updated model offers more modern features.

Specifically, the Toyota Vios is equipped with LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, new 15-inch alloy wheels, a steering wheel with paddle shifters, a larger 9-inch central touchscreen, smartphone connectivity, a USB Type-C port for rear passengers, seven airbags, a pre-collision system (PCS), and a lane departure alert (LDA).

The Vios continues to be powered by a 1.5L four-cylinder engine that generates 107 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to either a five-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Honda City: 443 units sold

Similar to its competitors, the Honda City also experienced sales growth in June 2024, with an impressive increase of 46.2%. Last month, Honda sold 443 City units in Vietnam, and in the first six months of the year, the City ranked third in the segment with cumulative sales of 3,316 units.

Honda City

In July 2024, Honda is offering a 100% registration fee support for the G and L trims of the City, while the RS trim receives a 50% discount. This promotion allows customers to save between 30 and 59 million VND, depending on the trim level.

Like other Honda models, the City has a relatively high price compared to its competitors, ranging from 559 to 609 million VND. Without promotional programs, the B-segment sedan would struggle to compete in terms of sales.

The Honda City is renowned for its engaging driving experience within the segment. It also stands out for its trusted brand, eye-catching design, spacious interior, and advanced safety features. Notably, it is one of the few models in the segment to offer ADAS as standard.

The City is powered by a 1.5L i-VTEC four-cylinder engine that produces 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Mazda2: 361 units sold

The Mazda2 was the only B-segment sedan to experience a sales decline in June 2024. Last month, the model sold 361 units, a decrease of 29%, placing it in fourth place in the segment. In the first six months of 2024, the Mazda2 achieved total sales of 2,372 units.

Mazda2 Sedan

The Mazda2 Sedan is competitively priced, ranging from 408 to 534 million VND, making it quite appealing in the segment. Additionally, it boasts a beautiful design that caters to the tastes of Vietnamese consumers.

Notable features of the Mazda2 include LED lighting, 16-inch alloy wheels, a 7-inch central touchscreen, a six-speaker audio system, paddle shifters, automatic climate control, auto-dimming interior mirror, blind-spot monitoring (BSM), and rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA).

Under the hood, the Mazda2 is powered by a 1.5L Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine that delivers 110 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Mitsubishi Attrage: 277 units sold

June 2024 was a positive month for the Mitsubishi Attrage, with sales of 277 units, a growth of 30%. However, the model remains in fifth place in the segment in terms of both monthly and year-to-date sales.

Mitsubishi Attrage

In June 2024, Mitsubishi is offering a 100% registration fee support for the MT and CVT Premium trims produced in 2023 (VIN number 2023). For the CVT and CVT Premium trims with a 2024 VIN number, the brand is providing a 50% discount on the registration fee. Additionally, the Attrage comes with gifts such as one year of physical insurance, a rearview camera, and a shark fin antenna.

Aside from the promotional programs, the Mitsubishi Attrage has one of the most affordable price tags in the segment, ranging from 380 to 490 million VND. However, its design, convenience features, safety equipment, and engine performance lag behind many competitors in the same segment.

The Mitsubishi Attrage is powered by a 1.2L MIVEC three-cylinder engine that produces 77 horsepower and 100 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with either a five-speed manual or an INVECS continuously variable transmission.

Kia Soluto: 45 units sold

Additionally, the Kia Soluto ranked among the ten worst-selling models in the Vietnamese market in both June 2024 and the first six months of the year.

Kia Soluto

Similar to the Mitsubishi Attrage, the Kia Soluto’s strongest advantage is its competitive pricing, ranging from 386 to 482 million VND. Unfortunately, its exterior design, convenience features, and safety equipment are less appealing.

The Kia Soluto is equipped with a 1.4L four-cylinder engine that produces 94 horsepower and 132 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission.
