The journey of exploring China for the second time with the limited-edition Porsche 911 Dakar, owned by a businessman from Haiphong, has now reached its one-month mark. During this trip, the owner and his travel companions have been chasing the thrill of adventure, seeking out the country’s famous landscapes and roads.
From highways and national roads to the Siling Lake grasslands in the Tibet Autonomous Region, they have covered a lot of ground. Siling Lake is located north of Xainza Town and administratively belongs to both Xainza and Baingoin counties in the Nagqu region. Sitting at an elevation of 4,530 meters, it is a saline lake.
However, all good things must come to an end, and with the visa expiration nearing, the owner has started the necessary procedures to exit China and drive back to Vietnam.
Upon his return, the odometer of the limited-edition Porsche 911 Dakar is expected to show a significant increase from the last recorded reading of 50,366 km.
This Porsche 911 Dakar is currently the two-door sports car that has accompanied its owner on the most extensive journeys. In just 11 months of ownership, he has averaged over 4,600 km per month, an impressive feat for a limited-edition sports car.
One of the key strengths of the Porsche 911 Dakar is its increased ground clearance, which is 50 mm higher than the standard model. Additionally, it can be further raised by 30 mm in High Level mode, designed for off-road driving and activated via a knob on the steering wheel. This feature allows the car to navigate speed bumps and potholes with ease.
When the owner first took delivery of the car, he had it wrapped in a new livery with red and yellow accents on the original GT Silver Metallic paint. The doors and front trunk lid were adorned with the number 19, which holds a special meaning for the owner, as it represents his birth date—the 19th of April.
The Porsche 911 Dakar is a limited-edition model, with only 2,560 units produced globally. Four of these rare cars have found their way to Vietnam. Under the hood, it is powered by a 3.0-liter inline-six twin-turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 473 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque.
This engine is paired with an 8-speed PDK automatic transmission, all-wheel drive, and rear-wheel steering, enabling the Porsche 911 Dakar to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 240 km/h.
