Electric vehicles are the latest trend in the global automotive industry, and consumers now have more choices than ever before. This can be overwhelming for prospective buyers, so to help consumers make informed choices, Consumer Reports has released a list of the best electric vehicles on the market.

The well-known magazine has test-driven nearly 50 electric car models, and only 14 have made it to their list of recommended purchases.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6, with a score of 83/100, is the top-rated affordable electric car by Consumer Reports. They praise its fun driving experience, fast charging speed, quiet interior, and smooth yet quick acceleration. However, the magazine notes that the sloping roof design results in limited headroom for passengers, and they prefer window controls on the door panel rather than the center console.

The second-best affordable electric car is the Kia Niro Electric, scoring 71/100. It is one of three variants in the Kia Niro line-up, alongside the conventional gasoline and hybrid versions. Thus, the top two affordable electric cars for 2024, according to Consumer Reports, both come from the South Korean conglomerate, Hyundai.

In the luxury electric car segment, the BMW i4 takes the top spot with a score of 83/100, closely followed by the Porsche Taycan, which scores 76/100. Both vehicles are officially distributed in Vietnam, with the BMW i4 priced at 3.759 billion VND and the Porsche Taycan starting at 4.26 billion VND.

The BMW i4 is one of the electric vehicles officially sold in Vietnam.

The only 3-row electric SUV to make the cut is the Kia EV9, with an impressive score of 78/100.
