With a year-to-date sales figure of 7,743 units, the Ranger is the second best-selling automobile in Vietnam for the first half of 2024, only surpassed by the Mitsubishi Xpander.

Ford Ranger

The Ford Ranger, available in Vietnam, offers 8 versions (excluding the Raptor) with prices ranging from VND 669 million to VND 1.039 billion. For this price, customers will acquire a pickup truck renowned for its attractive design and diverse convenience and safety features, leading the segment in these aspects.

The Ford Ranger in Vietnam is equipped with two 2.0L diesel engine options. The first is a single-turbocharged engine that delivers a maximum output of 167 horsepower and a peak torque of 405 Nm. This engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. June 2024 marked the second month of the Toyota Hilux’s presence in the Vietnamese market after a nearly six-month hiatus. Compared to the previous month, this pickup truck’s sales figure decreased by 12.9% to 268 units. Nevertheless, the Toyota Hilux maintained its second position in the segment, surpassing its rival, the Mitsubishi Triton.

Toyota Hilux

The Toyota Hilux currently offers 3 versions with prices ranging from VND 668 million to VND 999 million. Compared to the older version sold in Vietnam in 2023, the new Hilux presents more choices and competitive pricing.

The Toyota Hilux has undergone subtle adjustments in exterior design and has been enhanced with additional features. It now includes a 9-inch central touchscreen, supporting smartphone connectivity via Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, as well as a new dual-zone automatic climate control system. Exclusively, the high-end version boasts a 360-degree camera, six sensors, a Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), and a Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) system.

Under the hood, the pickup truck is equipped with two engine options. The first is a 2.4L 4-cylinder diesel engine, producing a maximum power of 144 horsepower and a peak torque of 400 Nm. As mentioned earlier, the Mitsubishi Triton was the only model to experience sales growth compared to May 2024. Specifically, the Triton sold 249 units, reflecting a significant increase of 52.7%. Unfortunately, its sales volume still lagged behind the Toyota Hilux, placing it in the third position within the segment.

Mitsubishi Triton

During July, the brand is offering a promotion that includes a full registration fee waiver and a rear-view camera for the 4×2 AT MIVEC version. According to plans, Mitsubishi will launch the new generation of the Triton in Vietnam in September of this year. Local dealerships have already started taking bookings for the new Triton.

Isuzu D-Max: 31 units

The Isuzu D-Max remains at the bottom of the pickup truck segment, with sales of only 31 units, reflecting a 6% decline. It is one of the slowest-selling vehicles in the Vietnamese market for June 2024 and the first half of the year.

Isuzu D-Max

The Isuzu D-Max is competitively priced in Vietnam, ranging from VND 665 million to VND 880 million for its three versions. Additionally, it offers adequate convenience and safety features. Unfortunately, its design has not been well-received by Vietnamese customers.
