MG Unveils the MG HS 2025 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024
The MG HS 2025 made its debut at the renowned Goodwood Festival of Speed, showcasing a range of updates and improvements. The compact CUV has received a design refresh, enhanced interior comfort, and a more fuel-efficient engine.
The exterior design of the MG HS 2025 draws inspiration from the Roewe RX5, a similarly-sized CUV under the SAIC umbrella. This is evident in the similar styling of the headlights, taillights, and alloy wheels between the two models. Additionally, the side profiles of both vehicles share some design cues.
Looking past the similarities, the MG HS boasts an impressive design with sharp headlights featuring inverted L-shaped DRLs that are connected by a slim grille.
At the rear, the Roewe RX5 sports C-shaped taillights that are joined together, mirroring the design at the front. Below, you’ll find a three-tier reflector, dual faux exhaust tips, and a rear diffuser.
Step inside, and you’ll find a pair of 12.3-inch screens seamlessly integrated into the dashboard, along with a new gear selector in the center console. Depending on the trim level, the MG HS 2025 can be equipped with wireless phone charging, an eight-speaker audio system, a 360-degree camera, and the MG Pilot ADAS suite of advanced driver-assistance systems.
The MG HS 2025 offers a range of features depending on the trim level, including wireless phone charging, an eight-speaker audio system, a 360-degree camera, and the MG Pilot ADAS suite.
Compared to its predecessor, the new MG HS has a longer wheelbase, providing a more spacious interior. Behind the second row of seats, there’s a generous 507 liters of cargo space.
Under the hood, the MG HS 2025 offers two powertrain options: a plug-in hybrid and a turbocharged gasoline engine.
The plug-in hybrid combines a 1.5L engine producing 141 horsepower with an electric motor generating 207 horsepower. This setup enables the MG HS to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. Additionally, the larger 24.7 kWh battery provides an impressive 121 km of pure electric range.
The turbocharged 1.5L gasoline engine delivers 168 horsepower and 275 Nm of torque. It can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, sending power to the front wheels.
The MG HS 2025 will initially go on sale in the UK, with prices starting at $32,187 USD (818.2 million VND) for the gasoline model and $40,557 USD (1.031 billion VND) for the PHEV variant.
