Ford Vietnam’s official website recently shared the first images, teasing the launch of the 16-seat Transit 2024.
According to the plan, the new generation Transit will be launched in early July. Dealers have started accepting bookings for this new model. It is expected to be available in three versions, with 16- and 18-seat configurations. The initial estimated price ranges from 889 to 949 million VND.
The new Ford Transit retains its familiar overall shape but with refined exterior details. Based on the leaked images, the 2024 Transit in Vietnam features a large honeycomb grille with chrome accents. It also sports LED headlights in a C-shape, similar to other Ford models like the Ranger and Everest.
It’s unclear if the vehicle will have reduced features for the Vietnamese market. In the Chinese market, the new Transit’s cabin has undergone a significant transformation. Notably, it boasts a modern 12.3-inch dual-screen setup on the dashboard.
The vehicle is equipped with various convenient features, including an electronic gearshift, smart key, voice interaction, keyless entry, heated seats and steering wheel, power-adjustable driver’s seat, auto-dimming mirror, and remote start.
Another new feature of the Ford Transit 2024 is that, except for the last four seats, the front seats are arranged in a 2-1 configuration instead of the current three-seat layout, allowing for easier movement between rows.
The Transit will offer two engine options. The first is a 2.3L diesel engine that produces 175 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed or 7-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission. The second option is a 2.0L diesel engine with 154 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed or 7-speed manual gearbox. The air suspension, which allows for adjustable height, is a unique feature in its segment.
In terms of safety, the Ford Transit is equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Level 2.5 and a Bosch vehicle stability system. Its chassis is reinforced with 68 points of boron steel. The testing standards and corrosion standards applied to the new Transit generation also exceed industry norms. However, it is unclear if the Vietnamese market will receive this safety package.
