Attractive Perks and Benefits: Volkswagen Offers Company Cars to Top Executives
Previously, Volkswagen had a generous policy of providing two free cars from any of its subsidiary brands within the Volkswagen Group to its top executives. This was a perk offered to facilitate their daily commute and as a work benefit.
Most of the executives opted for a new model Porsche and a vehicle from another brand under the Volkswagen Group. It is estimated that approximately 200 Porsches were provided as perks, catering to 200 executives.
However, Volkswagen has recently implemented a new policy regarding company cars for its employees. As a cost-cutting measure, the company has decided to stop providing Porsches to its top executives and is now recalling the vehicles previously given to them.
This change in policy is part of a broader effort to reduce expenses across the entire company.
In reality, there were certain limitations to providing company cars to 200 executives. For instance, many employees viewed the cars as company property rather than personal assets, leading to a lack of care, resulting in damage and high maintenance costs.
Therefore, Volkswagen decided to recall the vehicles from the 200 employees and only provide company cars to a small group of employees working specifically for Porsche. This strategic decision helps the group save significantly on costs.
With the introduction of this new policy, several top executives have expressed their dissatisfaction and requested better perks or compensation packages for returning the Porsche company cars.
