The 2024 Suzuki Swift fell short of expectations in the Euro NCAP safety assessment, with a 3-star rating for its protection of occupants and collision avoidance capabilities.

The 2024 Suzuki Swift has been put through its paces by Euro NCAP in recent crash tests, earning a 3-star safety rating. This reveals strengths and weaknesses across several safety categories. First unveiled as a concept in October 2023 and then as a production model in December of the same year, the Swift underwent a thorough design overhaul and was released in Europe in early 2024.

According to Euro NCAP’s report, the 2024 Suzuki Swift managed a 67% score in adult occupant protection, with some aspects of its performance rated as marginal to weak. Meanwhile, child occupant protection stood at 65%, due to poor neck protection and the absence of a system to detect the presence of children.

The Suzuki Swift 2024 performed better in the vulnerable road user protection category, scoring 76%. This indicates good or adequate protection for the head and upper body of pedestrians and cyclists in the event of a collision. The Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system also works for pedestrians and is rated “good” for cyclists. However, the new Swift lacks a “door opening warning” system, a feature that prevents accidents when the occupant suddenly opens the door as a cyclist or motorcyclist is passing by.

In the safety assist category, the Swift achieved 62% and met the requirements of basic safety regulations with the inclusion of AEB, lane departure warning, speed limit information, and driver fatigue detection.

Euro NCAP noted that while the car “fulfills its obligations,” it doesn’t go above and beyond, as other systems like rear seat occupant detection and driver monitoring are limited (only detecting driver fatigue) and thus unable to achieve maximum points.
