JD Power’s survey results, based on the responses of almost 100,000 vehicle owners, indicate an increase in customer satisfaction with new vehicles after two consecutive years of decline.
Recently, JD Power released its 2024 vehicle owner satisfaction survey results. The findings show an increase in owner satisfaction after two years of consecutive declines, with an average satisfaction score of 847 out of 1,000, higher than the previous year.
The research is based on feedback from nearly 100,000 vehicle owners who participated in the survey after 90 days of ownership, sharing their personal experiences. Satisfaction was assessed according to 37 criteria, ranging from the sense of comfort when sitting in the driver’s seat to the excitement of pressing the accelerator.
Commenting on this year’s results, Frank Hanley, Senior Director of Automotive Standards at JD Power, stated, “Traditional automakers have been listening to consumers. They are introducing more advanced vehicles that better meet consumer demands, including upgraded interior spaces and higher-quality materials, while also ensuring ease of use.”
The statistics show that Porsche has earned the highest customer satisfaction, with 891 points. This brand also tops the luxury car segment, followed by Jaguar, Land Rover, and BMW. In contrast, Audi is the least satisfying luxury brand, with just 847 points. The segment’s average score is 870 points.
The average satisfaction score for non-luxury automotive brands is lower than that of luxury brands.
Mini leads the non-luxury segment with 858 points. Additionally, two South Korean automotive brands, Kia and Hyundai, are also highly regarded by consumers, ranking third and fourth, respectively. All Japanese brands scored below average.
The BMW 7-Series is recognized as the model that delivers the highest customer satisfaction. Other models from the German automaker, such as the 2-Series, iX, and X4, are also highly regarded. In terms of numbers, Kia dominates the rankings with five models topping their respective segments, including the Carnival, K5, Forte, and EV9.
