With its official entry into the Vietnamese market, the GAC GS8 will go head-to-head with competitors such as the Hyundai Palisade, Volkswagen Teramont, and Ford Explorer.

Alongside the luxurious M8 MPV, GAC is also launching the GS8 SUV, positioned in the premium high-riding vehicle segment. The GS8 will face competition from the Ford Explorer, Hyundai Palisade, and Volkswagen Teramont upon its introduction in Vietnam.

The GAC GS8 made its debut in China in 2021. The model being launched in Vietnam is the second generation of this popular SUV.

Built on GAC’s GPMA platform, the GS8 boasts impressive dimensions with a length of 5015 mm, a width of 1950 mm, and a height of 1780 mm. It also has a generous wheelbase of 2,920 mm.

In terms of design, the GAC GS8 stands out with its bold and angular styling. The front end is characterized by a large grille with an optional dragon-scale or wing-like pattern. The SUV features LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, and a distinctive “H”-shaped rear light design. Dual square exhaust tips add a sporty touch to the vehicle’s rear end.

The interior of the GS8 is modern and well-equipped, featuring a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch floating infotainment screen. The vehicle’s electronics are powered by an 8155 chip, ensuring smooth and responsive performance. Higher-end variants offer second-row business-class seats with a center console and armrest.

The GS8 is configured as a seven-seater, with the option of business-class seats for the second row in the Chinese market.

In terms of safety, the GS8 is packed with advanced features, including blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic parking assist, to name a few.

In the Chinese market, the GAC GS8 is offered with two engine options. The first is a 2.0L gasoline engine producing 252 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

The second option is a hybrid powertrain, combining a 190-horsepower gasoline engine with an 182-horsepower electric motor. This setup is mated to a continuously variable transmission (E-CVT).
