The Honda Civic currently available in Vietnam is from the 11th generation, launched in 2022. After about two years, an upgraded version of this model, known as the mid-life facelift, is now being sold in several Southeast Asian countries.
Therefore, the Honda Civic facelift is expected to be introduced in Vietnam this year.
According to some sources, Honda Vietnam is no longer importing the current Civic model for sale. The stock at dealerships is also very limited. This move implicitly confirms that the 2024 Honda Civic facelift will soon be brought to the country, expected to be in September.
Notably, in this upgrade, Honda has added a hybrid version to the Civic lineup, offering improved fuel efficiency. These hybrid models are named Civic e:HEV, similar to the current CR-V.
The Honda Civic e:HEV is powered by a hybrid powertrain that combines an electric motor and a gasoline engine. The electric motor delivers 181 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the gasoline engine is a naturally aspirated, 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder unit that produces 141 horsepower and 189 Nm of torque. The car uses a front-wheel drive system and an electronic continuously variable transmission (E-CVT).
Typically, in hybrid vehicles, the electric motor plays a supporting role, but in the Civic e:HEV RS, the gasoline engine serves as a generator, and most of the power transmitted to the wheels comes from the electric motor.
The car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and has a fuel consumption of 4 liters/100 km, which is extremely economical compared to the RS gasoline engine’s 6.3 liters/100 km.
In Thailand, the Honda Civic e:HEV is priced at 1.15 – 1.27 million baht (797 – 880 million VND). If launched in Vietnam, the car is expected to be priced slightly higher than the current Honda Civic RS.
