Hyundai is gearing up to unveil its all-new, flagship SUV later this year. The upcoming vehicle will be built on the E-GMP platform and is expected to be the brand’s most expensive electric offering.
According to Motor1, Hyundai’s three-row electric SUV, set to debut later this year, will go on sale in early 2025. The South Korean automaker has been tight-lipped about this new model, only revealing that it will be a “three-row, all-electric Ioniq SUV” and it’s likely to be named the Ioniq 9, as Motor1 predicts.
A few months ago, this new electric vehicle was spotted undergoing road testing in the US, heavily camouflaged. However, some exposed design elements hinted at a strong influence from the Ioniq Seven concept car introduced in 2021.
In terms of design, the Hyundai Ioniq Seven boasts a sleek, modern, and compact body. Its front end stands out with a slim LED light bar stretching across the width of the grille and vertical fog light clusters symmetrically flanking the faux radiator grille. Overall, the Ioniq Seven’s futuristic design, when applied to this upcoming SUV, promises to be a formidable contender in its segment.
Inside the cabin, the interior will share similarities with both the Ioniq 5 and 6. The Ioniq Seven concept featured a radical design with elements like a bench seat, swivel chairs, and reverse-opening doors, which are unlikely to make it into mass production.
Hyundai’s new three-row SUV is expected to be built on the E-GMP platform and share powertrain and battery configurations with its sibling, the Kia EV9.
Currently, the standard Kia EV9 offers 215 horsepower with rear-wheel drive, while the more potent AWD version delivers 379 horsepower and uses a larger-capacity battery for extended range.
